New dro plan. Not trying to replace my DWC just fooling around and see if I can make things a little easier on myself.

Materials

1 3 liter airpot(of course you can use any pot)
1 reservoir(the bowl in the pic holds 2 to 3 liters)
2 pieces of 1/4" nylon rope( mine are about 18")
1 5"x5" nylon screen
1 air pump(tetra15)
2' to 3' air line
1 air stone

Ran the rope at angles through the pot.

Put the screen in the bottom of pot. Ran the 2 pieces of nylon rope through the screen out the bottom of the pot.

put the wicks in the rez.

Run the airline into the rez, add airstone, and attach to pump.

The medium will be 50% perlite, 40% vermiculite, 10% wormcastings.
FloraNova nutes
The strain is undecided.

that's what i love about this ,so many great ideas are coming up here. and the inventors are willing to share. where else does that happen? not in any other field i have come into contact with. long live the experimenters!
btw CDC,i like it,especially blending the best of both growing methods. +REP if i could but,it says i have to spread some around b4 i can hit you again.

Nice!
This is the sort of thing I like to see and do, hopefully my seedrun makes a shitload of seeds so I too can play :)

Will the two wicks draw enough water when the plant is small, also wouldn't cotton rope act better as a wick?

Very nice CDC! I'm interested to see how this works for root development. I've seen drawings for a water-wicking system but no one to ever implement it. Nice hybrid system and problem solving. I hope it works great!

From what I have read. The 1/4" rope should be enough for the 6" pot. 3/8" for 10" pots. And so on. Adding bigger ropes does not help at all. This is totally dependent on transpiration, of the rope, media, and plant. They will all take the amount of water/nutes they need. No more, No less. Keep the Rez filled and ph balanced and there would be no chance of over or under watering.

I know my nutes will stay ph balanced indefinitely if the plant roots are not in the Rez. I am hoping that ph is no longer a issue. It would be such a relief.

The only thing I can think that could be a problem is the nutes. How well they travel up the rope. I will keep a close check on ppm. I am thinking it should not stray very far at all from the initial reading. If there is a nute uptake problem then a educated change in nuts would be in order.

First in is a little leca.

Then the mix

50% perlite
I got the chunky stuff. #4.
Keeps the mix light and airy.

50% vermiculite
Aids in transpiration, holds and gives up water easily.

10% wormcastings
This gives microbes a place to get it on.

1 tsp of earth juice rooters myco. Per gallon.
I made 2 gallons

Mixed in a pillowcase.

Then into the pot.

love seeing new ideas put into action, hope to see this producing for ya soon

very very much looking forward to your rsuls! great idea!

This is a Sweet Afghani Delicious clone that I transplanted yesterday. I watered 3 liters thru the top the second pot is acting as temp. Rez. About 1" of water is in the bottom of the second pot. She is awaiting her new Rez as soon as I clean it. Possibly tonight.
