I've been growing autoflowers for 2 yrs, some plants with really really good results and some not so good. I grow with pro-mix bx, I don't give any fertilizers for two weeks & when I do start I only add 1 milligram for a 1/2 gallon of water. I am growing in 2 1/2 gallon hydrofarm square pots, 9 times out of 10 the plants look beautiful (even when they start to show their pistols) then on most (not all) plants the leaves curl up, turn a light brown color and the ends are real crispy. I only feed about every 5 days or until they dry out. Right now I am using the full line of vegamatrix fertilizers. I also am using a 400 watt hps and keep it on average 18 inches away, temp lows are 70 highs are 79 with good air flow. What am I doing wrong, please help! Any info will be appreciated!! Thank you very much!!! This is Train Wreck Auto by Sweet Seeds believe it or not the plant (all of them) were beautiful and perfect until about 2 weeks ago the leaves started dropping like flies, crispy. I use tap water but I let it set out 3-4 days, like I said everything is beautiful until they get into flowering. This plant for instance (like all of them that do this) lose all their big leaves at this time that's why it looks so scrawny. Thank you!

Whats your PH at?

Out of tap about 7.5 but I have no ph pen yet. Never messed with them cuz I always grew outdoors. But I'm thinking it's time to buy one. Just have the general hydroponics liquid test kit

You're most likely experiencing pH lockout. Pro Mix has a pH of 6.9 - 7.0 right out of the bag. To compensate for the high pH you need to do one of two things. You can add some 17% aluminum sulfate to your soil at the rate of 4 grams per gallon of mix. That will lower the pH of the Pro Mix to around 6.3 - 6.4. Or you can feed at a lower pH, around 6.0, which will help to counter the high pH of the Pro Mix. In either case, a good digital pH tester will be needed to properly adjust the pH of your feeds. I also highly recommend getting an Accurate 8 to check the soil. Much more accurate than testing the pH of your run off water. Also, when growing in Pro Mix you need to feed the plants from day one since Pro Mix contains no nutrients. Start with 1/8th of the recommended strength for the first feeding or two, then slowly increase the strength until you are at 1/2 strength by week 4 or as soon as the plants look like they can tolerate the higher strength feeds.
