Hi peeps,
I'm doing my 2nd attempt at a grow , this time I bought a 1mx1mx2m tent and at this point I've got them under a 300w blue cfl. Since its an auto flower I was wondering if it would be better to put the 300w red cfl in there aswell. Would it be better to just do this rather than switching over to the red spec by itself?
I was planning to put smaller cfl's in aswell once the plants take off. BTW I have 3 in there with a 4th about to pop (I hope)

Thanks
Tom

Any chance you could run both together?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Would it be worth it. It's should be like running a duel spec but at 600w just want to know if it's going to be worth it.

I am sure someone with greater knowledge than myself will chime in here but I have been running mixed lighting from start to finish and have been happy with the results considering the lack of intensity. Low yields but very nice smoke. 600 watts I would think would work very well for getting a good weight.

Planning to get a couple of 125w open petal design bulbs for the sides...anyone seen these or used these before

yes, both spectrums would be the best bet!! Throw the red one in by week 6 and watch them bulk up! I'd hold off on th eside lighting for now and keep an eye on temps, when you introduce the bulb.

@briman thanks for the heads up but I think it could do with extra heat anyway. It sits at 24-25c at the hottest and the light is about 5 inch away. I will need to lift it soon so the plants all get the same light and I think this will drop the temp anyway so the extra light might be a blessing.

It's getting cold now in Scotland.

Wow, that is one freaky looking bulb. Provided you have a ventilation system and thermostat you should be able to run about all the light you want as the tent would vent when needed. It seems to work pretty well for me and I am running a pretty ugly setup at the moment. The girls seem to be content.

I prefer to grow in the cold as it is not difficult to raise the temps here but it is a pain to try and cool a space in the heat of summer.

Because you mixed different lights (with different spectrums), you probably ended up with full spectrum of light, which in return gave you good quality, but low yield because CFL`s have good spectrum, but low intensity. Buds grown under CFL`s are airy/light.
