When to start scrog

Hi guys I have white widow autos 18 days old now I have been careful with my light height and they are very dense and low still maybe about 12cm. I’m getting a bit concerned as to when I can add the net and also if I will have enough room to be able to get underneath the net and water. If I was LST I would of started by now. Any tips/suggestions? It’s for making RSO for my dad so I want to get as much as I can as I have to get it all out my summer house by spring!

im of the let them do their thing school of thought.about a foor tall i think.
but some heavy indicas with big fat leaves stay pretty squat,so getting underneath em can be tricky.

thanks, maybe set the net about 1ft above soil level then let them grow into it?

I was always told you don’t want any stretch but then someone in here the other day told me you do want stretch!

sorry i meant a foot not a foor
hmm yes and no....but more somewhere in the middle of the two.
a 2 foot tall plant with 4 branches is as stretched out as anything,ya dont want that.same time ya dont want something that looks like a football (real football,not that hanging around waiting for someone to do something,for someone to blow a whistle 2 seconds later game)
raising the light up could encourage a bit of stretch :smoking:

Is it 100% necessary to top before you Scrog? I don’t mean to hijack this thread but i figure why start a new one. I got a gelato og by Seedsman, and not to sure I wanna top it. Thanks in advance.

I didn’t, I heard it was best not to on auto

Thanks. This is what I thought. I’ve topped. I’ve lst without topping and I liked that better. Never mixed in Scrog so wasn’t sure what to do since some auto strains don’t react well to topping

I usually top all my plants and LST and have an adjustable scrog that I can lower to the desired height. Usually it's mostly comes into play when I have heavy flowers that don't want to hold up, or it's Soo dense that I want to use the space better - similar to LST .

Plants in the picture are about 12 inches tall. If they get to taller they would probably need the scrog. With how the knots are tied on the scrog suspension, I can raise or lower it
