Hi everyone,

This is my first grow so I'm not too sure when to start flushing my plant. Here is a what I'm dealing with:
Strain: Green Poison Xl (sweet seed)
Medium: Soil
Nutrients: general hydroponics trio
Time since germination: almost 11 weeks

I've been checking the trichomes with a microscope to determine when I should start my flush. The top cola just started to get some amber trichomes, but none of the other trichomes have started to change. I want to hold off flushing as long as possible to get the biggest yield possible, but I'm not too sure when to do it. I have florakleen for when that day comes. I have to water my plants again tonight, do you think they are quite ready or should I hold out for a little bit longer?

I've attached pictures of the trichomes on top cola and the others. The top cola is the one that has some amber.

Flush is two weeks for soil, 1 week for coco. I personally do not flush. Most of the time I use nutes to harvest.
Also you can do a stagger harvest if desired. You don't have to harvest the whole plant if not ready.
Looks like cloudy trichomes for the most part.

whwn ya think you ready wait a week  tis good advice.
flushing........................ask 100 peeps get 100 answers.some dont believe in flushing.
technically flushing is 3 times the pot volumne,so its a bathtub job.
how do outside in the ground growers flush ?
good luck n keep er lit

Flushing serves no purpose other than to starve your plants at the peak of bloom. It's an old stoner myth that has been repeatedly debunked. Plants don't use up nutrients, they can't pee or poop.

Feed her til the end and she'll keep growing til the end.

Thanks for the advice. That's interesting that your calling it a myth. I wondered what the science was behind flushing was, but it seems like everyone recommends it. It's even difficult to find articles debunking the idea of flushing. Do you know where I would be able to find someone scientifically debunking it? Are there any peer reviewed articles on it?

did i not read something from that jeff lovencrans guy ? is he not an autoflower expert ?

Here’s some reading for ya. Section 4.4, and 6.2 reflect the flushing myth, and in the end there was no significant difference in nutrient composition between the control plant (no flushing) and the two test plants that were “flushed”.
