Hey guys, doing my first grow and had a dumb rookie question.

I’m growing a single plant in a 2 x 2 under an auto cob and have heard that a good rule of thumb is to keep it 30 inches above the plant during veg, and roughly 20 inches above the plant during flower.

My plant just started showing pistols at day 21 and I was wondering if I should keep the light at the vegetative height, or lower it down now that I’ve seen the first sign of flower or later in flowering?

Thanks so much for helping a rookie!

I suggest just lower it now, and then make correction if needed. But you also can't go wrong lowering the light incrementally, such as a few inches at a time.

My Autocobs begin no lower than 30 inches. I let the plants grow toward the light, while watching for stretch and the such. I have a plant in flower right now and the two Autocobs are at 21". They were at 18", but the plant told me that I needed a little more height. Look at what the plant exhibits and adjust accordingly.
