Much as yellowing of leaves is a useful guide for when to harvest, what should one look for that marks the optimal time to start using Advanced Nutrients' Overdrive?

Tang provides a set 70-day feeding schedule. But if the plant wants to take more time in bloom, when should Overdrive be started?

just stretch out the schedule .. How old is your plant? got a pic? I use over drive after day 50 or so depending on the plant .. its all about the plant as their all different..

Yes, I'm referring to stretching out the schedule. But by how much? What signs does the plant exhibit when it is time to start? For example, should Overdrive be started based on leaves or trichomes?

Overdrive looks (AN information) like it basically induces the plant to come to harvest in 2 weeks, it goes into death throes putting out resin, then you flush. Is this the case with autos? Do some go longer or shorter?

If they preflower late then stretch the part of the cycle that has Big Bud in it (day 40-45) to whatever amount of days that the flowering is delayed. Usually they will (pre)flower at day 20.

Then if they´re budding up slowly you can always stretch the last cycle with the Overdrive in it to whenever it feels right.

All the genetics I´ve tried won´t start to yellow until a week into flushing.
