my seedlings stay super small like an inch wide and 2" tall everytime...it seems like the roots cant grow through the rooter or something...am I keeping to dry???I water when it feels barely moist...am I keeping to wet???i spray mist them till they drip...should I let them dry to dry???should i keep them dripping wet???my very first attempt at growing idk what I did but the roots were busting outta the rooters like crazy at like day 3,and the plants grew big...but I know I have tried at least 15 more seeds since and only one survived the rooter,3 were sowed w/o rooter and grew...but something just keeps telling me the stunting is from the rooters the plants just look like lil palm trees... they grow 5 finger leaves and 4 to 5 sets of leaves before i throw em away after a couple weeks of 2" eye soreness...I really don't know why I still use them...I guess cause im scared to just leave a seed sitting in perlite/vermiculite medium(im a hempy guy)I just started 2 more afghani (tired of putting money in the dirt for nothing) in just the hempy medium for a test again...but I really would like to know the do's n dont's of rooters...thanks

I started 9 in shot glasses and after they burst I dropped them in rapid rooter plugs. 100 percent success rate. I keep the shot glasses in Tupperware on top of my VCR to heat them. I think the key to good germination is high temperatures of 90 degrees or thereabouts. I keep seedlings very humid and very warm. I also use RO water ph'd to 6.0

With all due respect to these methods...I think it's best to just plant directly into the soil. The key is to make sure that the soil is fairly hydrated. I've NEVER had a seed that didn't germinate in properly hydrated soil. Nature does not provide shot glasses, wet paper towels, plastic baggies, warm cable boxes, etc. Room temperature is adequate for seeds to germinate. Keep it simple!

Nature doesn't provide aeroponics and net pots and LED lighting and fans and dehumidifiers, either and yet somehow the plants manage to thrive and no soil.at all. Whodafeckinthunkit?

Nothing wrong with simple. Simple is throwing bag seed out in the back field in the spring and coming back in the fall to see what came if it. I've done that. :).

I have better harvests now that I've gone with the best practices instead of keeping it simple. I figure that since I'm not simple, I don't need everything I do to be simple. The only time I had germination failure, it was when I went with "simple" and just room temperature. Took the seeds that germinated damn near a week to get their heads above ground.

Fuck that. I'm back to best practices and am leaving the "simple" stuff to people that need it.

Ronin's rooter germination guide is the only way I germ seeds! 100% success rate with good viable seed stock. even works on older seed stock too, just might take an extra day for em to pop!
