What should my target yield be for this setup?

I recently got back into growing and got a new setup. I’m still somewhat of an inexperienced grower, so I was just curious what I should expect for yield from my set up...maybe some of the experienced autoflower vets here can help...

I’m just looking for a ballpark figure so I know, if I don’t get the yield I want, if it’s me or the set up lol. After reading around, I know this answer would help more than just me.

So about the grow...

I’m currently about 6-7 weeks into a grow with 2 Northern Lights Autoflower plants from ILGM in 2 gallon pots, organic soil and FF trio nutes.

Tent is 20x36” (5 sq ft), and I’m using quantum boards...an HLG 100 and an HLG 65 (for a total of around 165 watts for the math wizzes out there).

I already know that yield “depends on a ton of factors”, but if this was your personal setup, what would you be hoping to yield off of this grow?

(I may post some pictures of the grow soon and follow up with the harvest)

A first time grower with some good luck should get about 1.7g/watt with those lights so ~280g or 10 oz. Another way to look at it is a lot of seed breeders will list average yields based on Square Meters. You have about 1/2 M² and northern lights should run 400 - 500 g M² so around 9 ounces.

These numbers presuppose a successful crop.

:goodluck:

Congratulations for getting back to growing!

"Depends on a ton of factors" aside, with that space, pot size, and lighting, maybe 4 oz / 120 g is a conservative estimate.

If you showed us some pics of where things stand now at week 6-7 it would help a lot.

Thanks for the replies, I figured 4 oz was probably a reasonable goal. I just find it hard to believe you can pull that much from only 2 autos in a short period of time. That would be awesome though! It would allow me to experiment more on my next grows.

Thanks! Here are some photos from Monday. One is 7 weeks, about 17in tall, and only stress was some light burn around week 3-4 from having the light too close.
The other is 6 weeks, around 10 in tall, and has shown almost no signs of any real stress yet, she’s nice and bushy.

I'm using the same size tent...lighting is combination of autocobs and qb...280w...
For years, I've run autos and photos together in 2-3 ltr pots on 12/12....organic and very conservative on nutes.
Vegging in an adjoining area, I stuff as many pots in my bloom tent as will fit, at least 6 but sometimes 8, rotating/harvesting 2 or 3 every 2-3 weeks.
My yeilds are minimum1.5 oz per plant with most being over 2 oz, with an occasional 3 oz.
I've found that patience and slow purposeful adjustments to important parameters certainly is key to successful grows and healthy plants are the main goals. Yeilds will follow.

Glad to hear you're having success with a similar set up.

I've thought about getting another HLG 100 to replace the 65, doing 3 plants in 2 gallons pots, and topping them for the next grow. I was concerned with adding more light, but it sounds like you're not having any issues.

I've had a couple successful auto harvests in the past, but they were both under 1 oz -- one was grown with 135w CFL's, and then the other was with only the HLG 65. I also harvested them in about 8 weeks, which I think was a bit early, and I probably didn't have the light power to really pack on the weight late in the grow.

The only thing better than horsepower is more horsepower! Oh we all go through upgrade-itis but I've had 15 years to do it. Last years upgrades appear to be holding the summit so upgrading supporting elements gets my dollars now.
You can't go wrong with any HLG qbs.

If yield is your thing, in that space, I'd probably also go for 4-5 plants.
Stack that space, no empty room, SoG style.

Sometimes people will talk about W/m2 or W/ft2.
But there's more than that, especially with smaller lights,
as they don't have deep penetration.
So more plants, low even canopy, and get the light close to them.
Just a bunch of main / top colas for harvest.
Lollipop the base.

Seems to be never ending haha. I guess that’s part of the fun.

if I don’t get enough from fewer plants in 2 gallon pots, I may switch to 1 gallon pots and give that a try.

I’m only growing for personal use and mainly use a Pax, so I don’t need a lot, but I’d like to clear the 4 oz mark.
