Can someone identify what this is please? I've only just spotted it, it appears to have come overnight. It's a solid yellow, looks like sulfur.

Possibly but I only just corrected it. I get 6.5 from my run-off.

I should also mention that for some reason I sometimes don't seem to get any runoff at all. I break up the top layer of soil before watering, pour 1.35 litres in, wait 5-10 minutes then add the rest. NO runoff at all comes out the bottom, but why not? Am I not adding enough water? I usually pour in 2.5 litres.

2.5 liters into how big a pot? If it's a 10 gallon pot, then no, lol...if it's a 2 gallon pot, then yes, you should see some runoff.

20 litre pot, so 4.4 gallons.

If you dont get run off keep adding the feed till you get around 10% run off mate and not too sure what the def is

could there be a compacted layer of soil at the bottom of the pot.?...it will hold alot of water before it starts to drain.

Not sure, what should I do if there is though?

Thats not a lot of water for those size pots.I somtimes add almost a gallon to my 3.4 gal pots. Just slowlyt add more water until you see it running out the bottom.
