im using 2 300 watt mars hydros right now in a 2x4x6 tent with 400 cfm fan and filter. led sound nice but the good ones it seem are super expensive and diy doesn't seem much cheaper and a bit confusing. I read people mentioning hps lights can blow up if water splashes on them so I feel like hps lights are dangerous...are there any really safe quality ones or anything?
Anyway If I wanted to upgrade the light what would you recommend? Any good sales for black friday?

Most of the major companies have sales. Check on youtube for the mars 300 cob upgrade it is cool. On this site has some diy cob builds as well . Lot of choices. With diy you build the perfect light for your space. Hid are cheapest but need better airflow , cooling and such. Not an easy choice for sure.

I have 2 of the same lights and the newer lights are more expensive but the penetration is much better and the overall performance is obviously better but you pay for it. In a tent that is that small the two are going to do you just fine. I would roll with what you have and see how it works and go from there. Those little lights will surprise you, they are workhorses. As far as the lights blowing up with water,if they do then something went real bad. Most hps lights come with a glass cover but there should never be water anywhere near there. Hps are high pressure gasses that put extreme heat out. The thing that will make those pop will be if you get oils from your hands on them when switching bulbs.I personally wouldn't upgrade for the size of that tent it would be wasted money in my opinion.

With the knowledge on this site a day of those 2 lights is the cheapest and best option.

You just need 2 cobs and 2 holders per light. Your looking at 50 to 100 bucks per light according to which COB you cbose.

I really advise doing your homework. read read read on day and look up growmau5 on YouTube and learn more. Then pop together a day conversion and grow under the best light you can get..

get yourself a tasty led for 350 great value for the $$$

I agree tasty would be nice but what model are you talking about for 350 that will cover a 2x4 properly?

So you're saying I could build enough cob light for my tent for 100-200$? Every time I think I figured out what I would need as far as cob it comes out to like $800 so I must be doing something wrong lol. Any other guides or anything anyone would reccomend? I'll check out growmau5 now thanks!

Honestly I would go with the Mars 2 series or hell even a reflector if you are looking for a bargain in my opinion you cannot go wrong with them, I have a Mars 2 700,400 and a KIND K3 L300 in my 5x5x7 and RH/Temps/Heat is pretty much perfect, and yes they are 10% off on Black Friday.

I was curious about Tasty so I checked their site out, they have 1 light in stock.. literally

@A-Train Ah was assuming he was adding light to use with his 3x100s ? a tasty in the middle with a 300 on each side would kill it in a 2x4 having 1000 ppfd =/- in a 24x30 foot print . or flower in the middle and start seedlings and veg on the outer edges ?
