What's up eveyone. I'm new to the forum and new to growing. I'm still in the process of building my first tent. I'm leaning towards getting Platinum Led P-series, but I have heard that their fans are a bit on the loud side. Which isn't a deal breaker, just on the annoying side. I have also heard they need to be a little further away from the canopy. Which is a problem for me as I am lacking in vertical space...for now(insert evil laugh). But anyways I would like to know everyone's light of choice and why they choose it. Also any lights you would stay away from and why. I know there is going to be a lot of different answers and that's the great thing. A person new to growing or a person looking to try something new can read through the thread and find what sounds like will fit them. One stop shopping kind of deal.

I like the kind that grows big marijuanas.

Do yourself a favor and look into quantum board LED lights at www.horticulturelightinggroup.com. Platinum grow lights are tech from the past (like 5 years old at least). I grew with them once upon a time ago, but they are garbage lights compared to what the latest and greatest is.

The newest proven indoor lighting tech is full-spectrum white light. No more purple lights.

I've only grown with autocobs by @BigSm0 they are quiet, don't really add any extra heat to the grow area if that might be a problem and produce very well. Those I started off seedlings 36" away from pot and let them grow toward light, then into flower 12-20 inches away but I did have some that grew to touching light in a 7ft tent. The quantum boards are also nice but I've not grown with those yet. Right now I'm running a KindLED XL750 to see how it really compares to my previous grows with the autocobs. Here is a pic from last grow with the 4 autocobs and 4 autopots in a 4x4 tent to give you an idea.

Hi,

I got quite few lights
Two pieces of MS0006 ( I would say it's most powerful one )
HS1.1 very good light but only supplemental
MarsHydro 48 - garbage, but mine is upgraded ( only 660nm + 3000K diodes )
Lm561b strips light - thought it will be very good but it isn't
Custom COB light - using 4x 100W Cree cobs - very good light.

Combination of these works best for me.

I know it's annoying, but hanging lights constantly into different places above canopy works best for me. This way plants get exactly what they need.

Quantum boards are currently the best and most affordable LED tech. Anything else is a waste of money.

I'm going to have to second this! Loving my quantum board 260 kit. Plants love it and I can actually see what's going on with my girl's leaves. I'm in a 2x4 grow area and only have the light turned up to around 65% and might not go much higher.

My LEDs I use most right now are 3 COB based fixtures total about 410w and several 5 or 6 rear old A51 panels with white or white and red diodes about 420w total and all are just like they were day one without issues. I know I could upgrade but these still do the job better than HID so just waiting till the itch gets too bad. Passive cooling will be a good thing and somewhat better efficiency with the new COBs and Boards.

Cobs Cobs Cobs
Love em
I like being able to adjust several lights to different heights plants with single cobs.
I havent built a quantum board not sure I ever will. I believe they are slightly more efficient. Their negative for me is the space used.
