I am new to growing. Here are the 2 plants I am growing now.

The details for it
  • Northern Cheese Haze autos by mephisto on day 26 in 3 gallon fabric pots of coco coir with perlite
  • 32x32 tent with 240w kingbrite led quantum board on like 75% power at like 26" on 24/0
  • Temperature around 77-81f and RH around 50 - 55%
  • Mixed in dry fertilizer amendments with Dr. Earth Organic Tomato Vegetable 4-6-3 and Dr. Earth Bud & Bloom Flower Girl 3-9-4. The top plant has 75% 4-6-3 with 25% 3-9-4 with about 1/4 cup total of the fertilizer in the 1 plant like recommended on bag. The next plant has the same ratio of the dr earth but at half the level with 2 jobes 4-4-4 fertilizer stakes in it. I plan to top dress every 30 days or so when the plants need it on there.
  • I hand water daily with around 1/6 gallon of tap water to each plant with 4-5 ml/gallon of calmag with 1 ml/gallon of silicon that I ph to around 6.0 - 6.2. I do not drain any runoff I let it wick back up into the fabric pot. I was originally going to put these on autopots but now hand watering as I have bought the biotabs to use on the next grow with tap water only in the reservoir.
When I started I was using non ph tested water for the first few days and I did not put calmag in the water which I think caused calmag deficiency and ph issues. I then started ph testing the water and using gh ph down to put the ph around 6.2. I think that if I was to do it again I would mix in around half the level of dry amendments and top dress more often when the plants need it on there.

What do you think? Tips or recommendations? I have bought biotabs that I plant to use the biotabs line with silicium flash instead of orgatrex for the next plants I do in the tent on there.

Certainly showing signs of 'a' mag prob.
Assume they are showing improvements?
I'd increase power up to max IF they're in recovery a couple days, but need to be sure they mending.
Id also get some seaweed into them. Helps to de-stress.

Thanks. It looks like the newer leaves show less and less of the calmag deficiency. It does look like maybe more nitrogen than is needed and I plan to top dress with less dry amendments than I planned in a week or so on there. I have been a little heavy handed with the lst and plant to be more gentle with future lst tie downs. I have been doing it every like 2 days. Do you think that is too often or would you leave more time between adjusting tie downs and adding new tie downs for it on there?

As long as recovery is evident...
Don't worry about being hands on, some times I've re tied twice in a day.
But don't forget the seaweed.
Btw a foliar feed will help get the nutes (like seaweed) into your plant faster
Fingers crossed its going the right way now.

Thanks. You think it may be a deficiency? I thought it was from the early calmag deficiency as the new leaves look better and I think it may have more nitrogen that it needs on there. I think I may flush with like 1/2 gallon ph water per plant tomorrow then water it with the usual daily 1/6 gallon per plant with calmag with silicon in it for a few more days then do a top dressing. I do have a spray bottle that I may use if needed on there.

When was your last flush?
If you have done one in last week, give it a few more days, bare in mind 1/2 gallon isn't a flush (that's 3 x pot size!) So a proper flush would be around 9 gallon mark.

Thanks. I did 1-2 gallons of ph calmag water per plant today. Would you ph test the runoff from the flush? Is that a thing to do in coco? I need to get some plant stands to make it easier to flush the plants. I ended up breaking the main stem off near the top of the plant of the top plant in the image. I hope the plant is ok with that on there.

don't flush with calmag water.
No need as all you are doing is overcharging the coco.
If you're concerned of course check PH in the run off.
Generally speaking, you'll find pH rises overtime, with a dip in flower.
I aim to feed around 5.7 to 6.2 (but truth is I no longer check) so I never chk run off, no need as I flush 10/20 pints of PHd water (only) every 10/14 days.

Well congratulations, you've just completed your first topping...
If you have literally removed the top budsite, its topped. And an AWUL lot of us have done it the same way you have, accidentally. Lol

Thanks. I was worried that if I used water with no calmag that it would unbuffer the coco. I only put like 2 ml/gallon in it. The runoff ph was around 7.2. I plan to water with water that is around 5.8 going forward and hopefully it would work. I had tied down the top stem for lst right before I tried the flush and without a plant stand I was having to hold up the pot while watering it while it was leaking out water and it was a big mess. I plan to use something to hold the pot up that would let the water drip down into the tray without me needing to hold the plant like a pot elevator or little blocks to hold the pot up. I have noticed white hairs and think the plants are in flowering at only 27 days in. I hope that the topped plant works out because out of the 2 plants it was the 1 that looked better in the tent on there.

I would add your calmag to your feed regime and only when needed. (I work a pre empt pattern, feed on saturdays (use sat as my marker on all plant routines). So I flush alternate weeks, but treat to a feed with calmag after flush too.

Oh crap, flowering already, well maybe a little late to benefit, but lesson learned, little care is needed, they can be insanely robust; but still fragile.
That PH range is def more suitable for coco.
Btw 2 of my autos (A Jack & A Diesel) show flower forming today.. little older though d38.
