What deficiency could this be?

DWC TAP WATER Water Temp 74 degrees F/ 56 humidity/ Week 4/ PPM 900/ EC 1.9 / PH 6.0/ GH Trio Nutes (50% dose) + Hydroguard/ Mars Hydro tsw 2000 at 60% intensity 20 inches from canopy/Fastbuds Jack Herer

I recently changed the buckets two days ago. Prior to changing, I saw a few brown spots and some light fading on a small amount of leaf tips (just the tips though ).

I also added some ph down last night (with the plant removed momentarily and solution mixed thoroughly before placing it back). Woke up this morning to these light-colored leaf splotches and a curling on two of them (bigger, older fan leaves). Honestly it’s only about 2 leaves with this damage and a handful of them with small brown spots I spoke of earlier. What could be the cause of this change? And should I fix something before it progresses? As you can see only the older ones have major damage, the others have a minor spot here or there.

@dubcupluv :welcome: Welcome to AFN:welcome:. DWC will grow monster plants but it is not very forgiving of mistakes. We can get to the bottom of this. Do not start adding things until we have a complete picture. What looks like deficiencies can be excess nutrients as well.

What is the PPM of your starting water? What is the source? If it is municipal water go out on the internet and get a copy of the most recent water quality report. We are interested in two sections: the water hardness section and the sanitation section. How often do you check and adjust the PH? How often are you doing a reservoir change? Are you keeping the water level in the reservoir consistent at 1/2 inch below the net pot?

Just in case that is not enough questions here are some more!

Please fill in this form: (copy and paste part is below, this first one tell what specifically to include)

-Problem: (brief description)
-Medium/grow method: soil; soilless-- coco, or peat based like Promix, etc. (please provide the actual product name); DWC, NFT, etc.
-Feed and supplements used: include brand, dosage/strength, frequency of feeding and watering (alone); method-- by hand, drippers, rercirc' or drain-to-waste,... N-P-K #'s too if you can!
-Water source: RO/DI; tap- dechlorinated-?..... EC or TDS reading; pH (don't bother with this on RO/DI, do bother with TDS/EC though to confirm it's working well enough)
-Strain and age
-Climate: night and day ambient T and RH%; res' temperatures; any extremes in T/RH% exposure
- Light used: HID, LED, COB, combo of,... wattage; light cycle hours (20/4, 18/6 , etc.); distance to tops....
-Additional info: PH in the root zone. How long have the plants been affected?...How fast did symptoms appear?... Anything else you think might be relevant..

--Pictures including WHOLE PLANT PICS, and troubled leaves.. use normal light or flash as other light sources ruin color rendering, critical for diagnostics! Turn off the grow lights.

Most of this is posted above. The only details missing are that I change reservoir every 2 weeks. Top off with water every week. Water without nutes is 200ppm. Environment Temps range from 71-76 degrees. Water temps from 72-74 degrees. Air gap is usually 1-2in below net pot. Light schedule is 18/6. Small discoloration a few days ago. Major discoloration happened two days after new reservoir change, one night after ph down added (while plant removed during mixing)

Your starting water is too high in calcium. You need to change the reservoir every week. Your water level is dropping too much in a week this concentrates the nutrients to a much higher PPM than you started with. Those leaves in the picture are the beginning of the death of this plant without better cultural practices. Hydroponics is an every day job.
:goodluck:

Surprisingly I had the ppm concentration way higher before this. EC was at 2.4 before my switch and it was booming in growth. I
dialed the nutes back this last water change when I I researched a bit more and got my ppm/EC meter and that’s when I started having problems. Lol trust me, I’m obsessed with these babies I check their levels every day and sit in awe all the time lol. So, do I do anything different rn or do I just wait till the week is over (Thursday) ?

also, if my water is high in calcium, wouldn’t changing it every week only make the problem worse? *Correction tap water is 175 ppm

Without knowing the answer to all of my questions I cannot help.

I just need this all in one place so please answer in a single post. I am helping many growers at the same time and it is too easy for a stoner to get confused if I have to jump around in posts to figure out where I am. Dabs you know Dabs3.png
