Hello all...Hope to get some insight as to what the plants are missing. Been growing photos for a few years and used various nutrients (FF, MC) but had best results with either Jack’s Classic 20-20-20 or Jack’s Citrus 20-10-20. I just started growing only autos on November 1st so I’m still learning the plants needs.

My setup is a 2x4 tent, Cloudline T6 fan and Marshydro TSL 2000. Using Happy Frog in 4 gallon cloth pots.

Seeing the Jack’s had a canna specific formula I switched to that. The online feed schedules seemed to be all over the place and went to the company for help. The rep sent the feed schedule attached and confirmed the solution should be ph’d to the 5.8-6.2 despite being in soil. I understand the content of HF and that there’s a ph swing that occurs after feeding so I understand the logic of ph’ing lower but not necessarily comfortable since I’ve always ph’d to 6.4 and never had an issue.

The first few plants have grown nice heavy fat buds but the fan leaves seem to be showing signs of lacking something and they’re fading. I haven’t really experienced that in the past.

I’m also adding silica at 2 ml and just started adding CM+ at 3ml a gallon.

I have bumped the ph to 6.4 despite the recommendation just for my own psyche.

Sorry for the long post but wanted to give enough info and background. And help, insight or reassurance is appreciated.

The tall girl is in late flower (finish date is tomorrow) I will be running her 10-14 extra days. The short fat is getting chopped on Monday, she’s going to be 14 days over the finish date.

I have not used Jacks but I think when looking at this schedule you need 4 (at least 3) of jacks products?

15-5-20 Veg - Flower
10-30-20 Transition week (2 weeks for photos)
7-6-30 Late flower

You should not need any additional calcium because Jacks uses Calcium Nitrate for Nitrogen and it provides plenty of calcium.

You should be adding the Magnesium (Epsom Salt) regularly.

I do not know how much dolomite or lime is in Happy Frog but I would follow Jacks' PH recommendation.

As far as harvest time I just look at the colas and trichomes and harvest at about 20% amber for most strains I grow.

:goodluck:

Thanks @Mañ'O'Green I have and am using all three and even have gotten their Epsom salt.
I will drop the CM+ and drop the ph to the high end of their range then adjust.

I just can’t figure out the pale leaves. Maybe I’m just accustomed to seeing too much N.

Thank you. I have always been under the impression that 5.8 to 6.2 was hydro and 6.4 to 6.8 was soil. Even when I was adjusting lower the yellowing was present.
Not sure what’s happening then.

You're right about those ranges, generally, but think about what you're doing in your specific instance...you're using a peat and wood based potting medium with a hydroponic nutrient; I'd call that a semi-soilless grow style which usually does better in the upper half of the hydro pH range.

Looking at your plants again this morning with fresh eyes, it strikes me that the leaf yellowing and damage in your pictures appears to start in the middle or top half of the plant; can you confirm whether this is starting on the bottom-most leaves and migrating upwards over time, or if it's starting in the light-exposed canopy? Has this ever gotten bad then gotten better, or has it always seemed to only get worse?

Here's where I'm going with this: https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/knowi...elpful_in_diagnosing_plant_nutrient_deficienc

Fe lockout is my first guess, potentially also K and Ca lockout if you're adding feed at 6.4 but your medium is buffered at or above that.
