It looks like the AFN site is going to take a little longer to get back to "Normal" ( posted before new .net come on line). I needed to start a new thread about my Nirvana Freebie Bean grow. She was known as "IT" and with the help of Uncle Chester's input. She'll be known as TWISTED SISTER aka WET BETTY.

TWISTED is in a "Spiral" LST. Her colas are being twisted counter clock wise around the base of the SmartPot. Hence TWISTED SISTER.

She's a Nirvana Freebie bean fed with a Nirvana Flower Tab also a freebie. Definitely a sativa. Perfect for "Spiral LST'd.

Spiral LST is the method of LST the main colas that form a spiral around the container. This opens the canopy for better CFL light penetration an final yield. Also keeps the profile of the plant low. I'll be able to grow a full size sativa in a space less than 10 sq.

The above illustration shows one cola being spiraled. Twisted Sister has four colas Low Stress Trained into a spiral.

Need to get a new battery for my camera, so have patience Uncle Chester. I'll post her knickers as soon as possible.

Man is this new site easy to post or what. Kudos to all involved.. MAX SLAP (do we still do MAX SLAPS??) to all.

No more wimpy pics ... Looking fine BayLee ... :hula:

Week One of FLOWER. Twisted Sister is now under the new 200w MaxLite Warm White (2700K) CFL and 46w 2700K spiral CFL as back lighting. Will add more Warm White (2700K) lighting as T/S matures.

The Spiral LST is doing exactly what it's suppose to do. Keeping the canopy open and even. The side or lower bud sites are now on top and getting good light coverage. This should increase the yield in the final push. Without the Spiral LST, Twisted Sister would not be able to grow in my small Super Box.

Top photo is Twisted Sis with only two days of Spiral LST. Incredible top growth and is just the height that will work in the Super Box. Bottom photo is T/S in the Super Box. She is very green and healthy.

Top growth from the smaller side bud sites is unbelievable. She's gonna be a beauty. Note that this is a photosensitive cannabis plant w/o any knowledge of what genetics it is. It's a sativa, but what sativa Nirvana Freebie bean is is up for grabs.

Note: She may be a bit droopy. I took the picture just as the lights came on and she needed a good watering. All's well.

Twisted was TOPPED at the 3rd node to start a manifold/mainline LST grow. M/M LST is good to begin plants that are rather fast growers or in hydro. The TOPPING of the 3rd node is repeated at the new growth's 3rd node. This TOPPING can go on for another set of 3rd nodes, giving the plant 8 to 16 colas.

Since each 3rd node growth needs to be fully healed. It takes a good amount of time to really do a true Mainline. http://www.growweedeasy.com/manifold
The growweedeasy.com link can explain better a true Manifold.

I didn't have the time or Twisted Sister just wanted to go into FLOWER so I grew her to the 4th node and then topped her at the 3rd node. Making sure the 3rd node was good and strong. Let her grow out and then start the LST. LST'd plants will explode with growth in late VEG and blooms all through FLOWER due to the open canopy getting max lighting. A must in CFL grow and small spaces. http://www.growweedeasy.com/training All the work is done now. She'll be adjusted and twisted as she matures, but the main LST work is finished. As the top smaller colas mature they can be LST too. Try to keep the canopy even is the main goal.

Third day of Spiral LST. Super new growth inside the canopy. LST the smaller top colas today. Try to keep the bud sites even. There is a botany name for this new growth action. Auxins is a hormone the plant uses to guide growth. Energy that would have gone into increasing the size of the top bud is divided between the new, topmost buds. This is often done to promote a bushier plant with several acceptably-sized buds, in place of a tall plant with a single, huge top bud. The top growing tip need not be removed in order to take advantage of this phenomenon; alternative methods involve simply bending the top growth tip down to the same level or lower than the next-highest budding sites. Methods such as LST (low-stress training), super-cropping, SCROG (screen-of-green) and similar approaches take advantage of this principle, without removing the apex budding sites. Benefits to using these methods include a reduction in stress from pruning, in addition to preventing the loss of the budding site; however, they are more labor-intensive and they do require more ongoing maintenance.

Day 3 of Spiral LST. Notice the explosive new growth in the canopy.

The primary LST is done. Now it's just adjust the colas and keep them low until she stops her FLOWER stretch and then let nature finish her off with big and many more colas/bud sites.
