The following question is asked, in one form or the other, consistently.

Question: If I do/use ______, instead of what is recommended, will that be okay?

I don't get upset by it but I'm not crazy about duplication of efforts (especially typing). So, I started this thread, which I will

If you do/use ______, instead of what is recommended, you are experimenting. Experimenting leads to trial and error.
