Has anyone ever used this? It the new issue of Treating Yourself, it says it's an old, new technique. You have your plants on 12/12 with an hour of light directly in the middle of the dark period. So, 12 on, 5.5 off, 1 on, 5.5 off, and repeat. Evidently it allows the plant to rest and build some crazy fast growth. I didn't know if anyone had heard of that, or used it. I know I like my rest, so figured maybe the plants do, too. And if it's helping to build up flowering hormones for a big push when it starts to bud, all the better.

Thoughts?

It's 12/12 with the hour of light in the middle of the 12 dark from the beginning. It's supposed to be helpful to supercharge the plant and save electricity. Giving it more rest, and the light in the middle of the darkness tricks it out of flowering. I didn't know if it could apply to autos, too, 'cause I love saving energy. :)

just a thought... with no intelligent proof... doing this to a photo period strain (messin with its dark period), wouldnt it hermie? i have been informed in most of my findings that you dont wanna jack with the lights during dark periods... hence the reason some growers put green bulbs in their flowering area... a way to look at the plants in the dark without having to turn the lights on... if your theory is correct, and i am wrong, then by all means, i will def. use your technique... i love sneaking peeks in on the ladies whenever possible and if i can get one in the middle of their dark period, then hell yeah.. that would be a ton easier than trying to find my green flash right around the same time anyways...

wait... just saw that you mentioned that this would keep them from flowering... :o ... now i am curious as to how well this would work while revegging and/or with an auto...

Exactly. This is during veg. You do this from seed and then when you're ready to flower, just take that one hour of light out of the middle of the cycle. It shouldn't lead to hermaphroditism as it's not doing anything with the light cycle during flowering.

Interesting thought anyways. I may try and do it with some of my photos. Putting in some Blue Widow, pineapple Express and Burmese Kush tonight.

so its actually gettin 13 hours of light... im not sure how much more beneficial it would be compared to 18/6... i dunno.. i would like to see some tests regarding this... i willin to be made a believer of it... :)

yea I'd love to see some tests, too. I figure... I'm way more able to get things done if I've gotten a good night's sleep the night before, versus having put in 18 hours of work. It's gotta be similar for other living things. I'll keep looking around to see if I can find other folks doing this.

I have used this method and have YouTube video's up.
I also used it with my one BD auto, though I pollenated her, she turned out fine.
But for my reg. ladies this method works amazing, I even placed clones in the room that came from a 18 hour light cycle.
They transitioned wonderful.
This is the only method I will use now :)
If you wanna see how good the ladies look check out Planet Green Toe on the Tube.
Stay green

i really doubt hermies would be an issue with this. its honestly not enough stress to do that. now if you had irregular light leaks randomly that will kickstart a hermie if those tendencies are already present in the genetics.

I have just put my 2 Afghan Kush ryders and 2 60 day wonders under that cycle after two Weeks on 18/6
Will keep pictures of any changes noted

Yeah im intrested in this might have to give it a try. Ye im not sure what would happen to an auto but we will find out
