Hello,

its me again lol. I have been searching online and the forums for a good answer on this but i cant seem to find any so i just wanted to start a thread on this hoping the more experienced cultivators can share their knowledge on this...

My plant is in flower.. there is no doubt about that. Looks like early flower to me... its a Blackberry Gum Auto. it is exactly 2 months and 8 days old. The top of the canopy is 3 inches away from the light....

now the question is (i have three questions to ask).. can i supercrop this girl, pinch and roll the stem to break fibers and bend it away from the light so its not too close to it?

The second question is.. can i also defoliate some of the larger bottom fan leaves? as she is getting very very bushy!

The third question is.. do i need a fan inside my tent like an oscilating monkey fan to move around stale ait under the canopy? as i only have an exhaust fan attached to a carbon filter which does give negative pressure in the tent.

I have attached to show how close the canopy is to the light... and another image to show how bushy she is!

Thanks,

Hi there! ^_^

I'll have a punt at these! :D

Yes! I mean, ideally you won't have to - I prefer not to mess with the plant too much - But needs must! If i have a top cola that's growing into the light and a lower canopy - that top is getting supercropped so i can get the light to more of the plant.
It sounds like you know how to do it already! ^_^

The second question is.. can i also defoliate some of the larger bottom fan leaves? as she is getting very very bushy!

Yes!! :D ... Sure, it's better to have good airflow rather than mold. Don't go crazy and take all t he leaves off (well .. some people call it schwazzing .. it's all the rage with the pros ... but i'd err on the cautious side for now)

The third question is.. do i need a fan inside my tent like an oscilating monkey fan to move around stale ait under the canopy? as i only have an exhaust fan attached to a carbon filter which does give negative pressure in the tent.

Yeah - you should have a fan blowing through your plant rustling the leaves, making it strong .. helping to keep the air flowing and reducing the chances of mold. (as well as your extraction fan for air exchange)

Hope this helps! :D

thanks! so even though its in flowering phase doing any of these wont cause issues? ive had loads of people telling me not to touch it during flower.. but if you say its okay to do so then i trust you :D

You don't really need to at the moment judging by those photos.
You could ... but they're not too tall!

If it was me, I'd let it ride for a while, but keep an eye on those top 3, and if they keep bolting up, i'd be bending them at canopy height.
Hmm, looking again, i'm on the fence. If you crop those 3 - you'll get another 3-4 inches ... but the other buds wont get any more light .. you'll just be trying to slow down the top ones. - It's one of those times when you wish there was more headroom!

You could lose some of those bottom leaves that aren't getting much light - that will help airflow.

OR .. you could tie some string round the top of the pot (or drill holes into the lip) and tie branches outwards to open up the plant if you have space (that will also help with airflow and more of the plant getting light)
Again .. Looks like you've already been training

Just some ideas!

If you "pull down" the top branches the buds will continue to grow "up" (or sideways) instead of stacking as they normally would.

And no need to crunch, etc. the stem. Just pull them down and secure them with a wire.

This will result in Zero stress to the plant and encourage all the other branches to "catch up", resulting in a more even canopy.

I usually (gradually) remove the bottom third of growth, they are far enough away from the light that there will be no significant bud production anyway.

This is a top branch roughly twelve hours after gently pulling it down and securing it...

Update.... plant is 2 months and 2 weeks old... and she keeps growing.. im not sure how long the stretch period will last.. but its getting beyond a joke now. i keep bending the tops to prevent it from hitting the light. but she keeps growing back within a day. shes growing an inch per day i would say.

i havent had the courage to supercrop yet...

im running 16/8 lights should i switch to 12/12 to slow down growth? would that help?

also does she look healthy for a 2 and a half month old plant?

Thanks,

just my opinion but if shes getting that close to your light id supercrop especially if shes still got some bend to her you could also start flower nutes early to stop the stretch but in all honesty I think for your pot size your tent height was always going to be a problem I mean I have 2 meters to play with and I sometimes need to pick and choose my strains

yeah i mean. i started feeding her bloom nutes 2 weeks ago now. still stretching though. ill supercrop very carefully then.

also bro she looks super healthy and given enough headroom shes would love it and my advice is keep her at 18/6 as you looks well into flower and next time maybe go with a smaller pot as I grow some cracker soo cups with very low height and a nice return
