Hello All,

I'm on my second auto grow. I have a homebuilt grow cabinet 22"x22"x42" and have been using 8x23w 6500k lights for vegging and a 150 HPS for flowering. In the cabinet I used 2x 3 gallon pots (went with a bigger pot this time as I am looking for more yield, arn't we all). I do have good ventilation coming in and out.

I did some LST last time and will do the same on this grow.

I noticed on the first grow that the plants seemed to not do much under the HPS? Not sure If I want to use the HPS or go CFL's all the way?

What is the optimum light height with a 150HPS?

Your thoughts are appreciated. By the way this website is fantastic. it is the most informative on the net.

Thanks again. PS: paranoid to post pics

welcome to afn greenavenger i would stick with the hps for flower and if temps are ok then maybe keep a few of the cfls on in flower aswell as i feel that a fuller spectrum is better :2cents:
:smokebuds: and big bud karma sent

Welcome to the forum. I agree with Stoney. If you've got the room I'd switch some of those CFLs to 2700k bulbs and run both the CFLs and the HPS. Since a 150 watt CFL doesn't generate a lot of heat you should be able to keep it pretty close to the canopy top. Just place you hand, palm down, at the canopy top for 30 seconds or so. Lower/raise the light till the heat feels comfortable on the back of your hand.
