I have a 4 by 11 room. going to use a 1000 watt hps. growing in soil 3 gal. pots. how many autos do you think i can fit. and should i get a 6 foot light mover. thanks big1
One 1000watt hps will not cover the entire 4x11 ft. area.Maybe it will cover 4x5 or 4x6 witch is 24 square feet.Even at one plant per sguare foot that would be 24 plants. This would be crowding them to much.Depending on the strain you will need at least 18 x 18 inche per plant.
With HPS lights you want a minimum of 50 watts per sq. ft. Given that you've got 44 sq. ft. you would probably need 2 x 1000 in that space and that would generate a lot of heat, which could be a problem, depending on your ventilation. Under the single 1000 watter you could comfortable grow about 12 plants.
will a light mover help at all. to move the light from one end to the other. I should be ok with ventilation running 6in inline fan and a Virtual Sun 1000 Watt Grow Light Kit with Magnetic Ballast the hood is a enclosed cool tube the ballast will be outside the room.
I always wonder how one cools a room with 2 X1000 watters burning away in a 4 by 11" room. Especially if it is 100 degrees outside. Sounds like an oven to me. Not being critical just wondering.
