Hi guys, near where i live is a national Park and there is a lot of springs and pleanty of people are coming to take somw water to home becouse our tap water is really bad.On one of them is a sign that water is for drinking but it's rich with nitrates. I checked EC and its 515ppm and i don't know can i use that water since is rich with nitrates, especialy now when i have N excess?

Thanks.

You should be fine I would think. You can always dial back your N if they start to burn

When you say dial back, you mean plain ph balanced water in next few waterings? and there is where i get confused, should i water it with 6-6,5 ph or lower than 5,5 ph where N is not abosrbed?

Thanks:worship:

No I mean when feeding your nutrients whatever has the N in it don’t use as much.

I would be curious to see a water test results on a sample of that water because 512 PPM can be a whole bunch of stuff besides nitrates?

Tests were done by institute for health and they said it's good for drinking and it's rich with nitrates, nothing else.
Guy who lives near is saying even when he leave water long time in botles there is never green stuff like should be from that kind of water, just white lines around bottle, salts i think.

You are right, found this on web "has a slightly increased nitrate concentration and electrical conductivity, which is interpreted as a consequence of the geological composition of the soil". And its positive arterial well 80 meters deep and It was drilled in 1947.

So god knows what else is in it.

That is just the thing, if your plants start to go sideways you don't know where to start? If using that water saves you money in the long run then I would pay to get a lab report. 4 plants with the time, energy and input expenses could easily be a greater monetary loss than the price of the test.

I lost 6 plants just a few weeks from harvest because I trusted a cheap PH pen. I estimated $600 dollars of inputs lost (not counting the time) for $50 the difference between a good tool and a POS.
