Hi everyone, longtime listener, first time caller.

The skinny of it all:
LED lights. 8 inches from plant, 18/6 schedule.
2 gallon smart pots
Using some high quality cow shit based organic soil that I use to grow greens.
I have not added any nutrients
Temp around 70 degrees
Not sure on RH.
I have not PH tested my water/soil. Looking at local water data though the PH could be as high as 8 or as low as 6.5.
Brown spots showed up on the top leaves around day 14, and have since spread and shown up on new growth as it comes in.
The leaves on Day 16 started to curl/twist upwards and have continued to get worse.

Really struggling to figure out whats wrong with this plant. I grow edible greens indoors already and wanted to try growing cannabis for a bit of fun. Bought a couple of seeds online, germinated them and then threw them into the pot. Now realizing that there's a bit more to it all than I thought :)
Sorry that I'm lacking more details to diagnose the problem. I understand that It could range from PH, to insects to nutrients. Hoping to get a best guess before I start to lay out money for solutions. Wanted to keep this low cost and simple for my first grow, but I'm definitely getting pulled in!

I bought nutrients in advance expecting the plants to need it in weeks 3 or 4. I bought Dyna-Gro Foliage-Pro, Pro-tekt and Bloom, and then after thinking about wanting to keep things organic and simple, went out and bought Nectar For the Gods One Shot (3-10-0)granules. Once again, I have not added any nutrients yet.

Growing next to the Sour Diesel is a Barneys Tangerine Dream auto. This seed was germinated and planted at the same time, in the same sized pot with the same soil, under the same light. It does not seem to be exhibiting any problems (though have a look at let me know if you see anything of concern!). The only potential difference is that I think I watered the Tangerine Dream a little less.

Thanks for all your help in advance!

New growth looks ok but you might want to feed a lite dose off veg nutes soon, also your light are too close so raise them up closer too 24inches .

Hi namvet25, thanks for the reply and advice. Glad to hear the new growth looks okay. Still a little worried though, the brown spotting came in after a few days on new leaves so will keep an eye on the new growth.

Any idea on what could have caused this?

Will raise my lights. Its only an 80w LED (though very recent technology) so was a little worried about it getting enough light. The light is rated at 560 umoles/square m-sec from a distance of 150mm.

Are you suggesting feeding based on the timeline of autos or from looking at the leaves?

Thanks again.

That's a really low watt light so maybe don't raise it but be carefull not to get to close or youll burn the plant. Feeding is up to you but leaves are nice and green but nutes will help for a bigger and healthier plant.Keep us updated.

Still have the same browning on the new growth. The plant is now much smaller in growth than the tangerine dream I planted at the exact same time under same conditions.

Any suggestions?

I bought a PH tester and have found that my water is 8.0. Have since bought some PH down and now watering at 6.0.
