Sour Crinkle
SeedBank: Mephisto

Strain: Sour Crinkle [HASHTAG]#21[/HASHTAG]

Did it autoflower?: Y

Soil/hydro:
Grown in coco, 9L airpots with blumat drippers (these were a lifesaver as I had to unexpectedly leave the grow to itself for a few weeks.)

Nutes: Two with Remo nutrients and two with Biotabs including Silicum flash.

Light: 250w Timber COB’s

From seed to harvest date: 67 days

Dry Yield: Didn’t weigh but I’m not disappointed.

BAG APPEAL: 5/5

They said frost levels would be ‘extra ridiculous’. They weren’t kidding, the frostiest strain I’ve grown so far, the pictures just don’t do it justice.

THE GROWTH: 9/10

Three of the four plants grew identically, it’s was like they were triplets, they stayed short and bushy. The fourth was completely different, stretchy and open structure and grew twice as tall.

THE SMELL: 9/10

The short bushy pheno tends towards a sour, almost sweaty smell in the jar, but when broken up releases intense sour cherry-like fruit with an earthy undertone. The tall pheno is like wood varnish in the jar, in the grinder it’s like a tropical fruit punch with just a strange hint of something slightly rotten underneath (but rotten in a ‘I have to keep sniffing it’ kind of way).

THE SMOKE: 9/10

Vaped in a volcano and crafty the fruity flavours dominate in both phenos. The buds were chopped, put in paper bags for 4 days before being transferred to a tray in the freezer for a 15 day freezer cure (I’ve found this method keeps the terps the freshest) and then into jars and burped until stable.

THE HIGH: 10/10

This one’s an expansive, mind-stretching high, the type where you have great revelations about the world. But before you can do anything about your new discoveries you find your body decides to relax and you’re happy to just sit there and let it all wash over you. I like this very much.

Overall, I had to unexpectedly leave this grow to get on with itself, and yet the Sour Crinkle grew itself. I was expecting to come back to some very poorly plants so when I unzipped the tent I was very happy to see what they’d produced. Once again @mephisto came up with the goods. I’ve already got in SODK, Sour Livers, HBSS and Cosmic Queen lined and ready to go for the next round!

First off great review and grow. Girls r pretty. Sounds like a nice strain. Now what’s this 15 day freezer cure. I hear all these different ways to cure but never heard of a freezer cure. How long after u take it out of the freezer before u put it in the jar.

Now that they have home freeze drying machines, I wonder how they would work on weed? Maybe cure it first....

Usually just twenty minutes or so out in the open before going into jars. There's a massive long thread learnt it from, I think on ICmag but actually comes from an old book by Ed Rosenthal (I've not read it though). Of all the ways I've tried this is the one which preserves the flavors the best. The only thing is your freezer has to be a frost-free type (which I think most are these days anyway) because those have a dehumidfier built it which is what dries it out, only very slowly. Super easy and super great results every time I've done it.

I just looked at one called Harvest Right, could be amazing if it wasn't for the cost...

Looks great, fine work!
We've just grown 36 of these out, and had just one of the taller open plants, the rest were virtually the same height, short and stocky. Some subtle differences in flower styles but same overall structure.
