New Grower Soil

This is my first grow, after doing a lot of research and seeing autos don't like a lot of nutrition and I see a few people use straight ffof, but I was also aware of ffof being on the hot side I mixed ffof and happy frog 50-50 for the bottom of the pot and top half has straight happy frog,, was this nessasary or am I just over thinking things thanks keep token

When I first started growing, I used a mix of Ocean Forest, Happy Frog and Perlite. Then I switched to 50/50 Ocean Forest/Perlite for a few years. Now I am in coco. There is nothing wrong with a hot soil, just means you don't feed nutes for approx 3-4 weeks. When you finally do start nutes, go with a 1/4 amount and work up from there. Yes, auto's can burn pretty easily. Personally I don't think you need different layers of soil.
