From your experience what do yall prefer for growing autos? what kind of light was used? (cfl, led, hps, etc.) ;) ..

i personally have grown in soil for a long time but have just switched over to hydro and am seeing better results already. i work with a mixture of t5ho and led lighting. I just ordered some HPS equipment and look forward to starting up some monsters soon. all lighting has its place. what kind of space are you working with? i would be happy to assist in designing a grow space for you as most members here will help as well. we are a tight community on this forum.

I use soil myself as I find it more forgiving more room for error and what not. I'm using HPS and MH light fixtures. I would like to move on to hydro. As it's faster and more yielding but more difficult. Hempy buckets may be the stepping stone for hydro though. As it's a passive hydro system

hey carlos im a hydro newbie and honestly so far its less work than soil. A LOT LESS. you just need to ph your solution before your water cycle comes on which if you use rockwool like me will be once a week for the first two weeks so far.i have explosive root growth right now and one pj just showed sex as female before any males which has never happened to me with soil grows.

Most new growers start out in soil and after they learn the ropes, may move on to hydro. I've been growing either soil or soil less for years now and am now just starting to make the move to hydro. From what I've seen, soil is a little more forgiving. If something goes wrong with hydro, you've got less time to fix it than in soil.

Often times if something goes wrong in hydro you have much less time to fix it, and it happens really fast.

I would consider myself a newbie...just started growing my first anything in April of 2011. Started out with DWC both autos and photos. My first plant i pulled just over an ounce of Diesel Ryder.

I have never tried soil so i can't say if one is easier than the other from personal experience. I picked DWC because it seemed to make the most sense for my enviornment. I don't handle dirt well and with DWC you can see your roots through all stages of life. It was easy for me to fix any kind of problem i was having before it was too late. I had some root rot about a month in. Saw some brown slime on my roots and was able to fix the problem right of way with the keen eyes of afn members. I can't imagine not being able to see what's going on with my roots now.

Can't see all this in soil lol

Also, bugs are not really an issue for me with DWC. the biggest "pest" over the summer were the yellow jackets that kept coming into the house being attracted to the light but never harming my plants...and my cats! they like to munch...

Granted start up cost for DWC are more expensive than soil but in the long run a lot less daily work. I don't have to worry about watering my plants because my bucket has gallons of oxygenated water (airstone) readily available for the roots to drink as much or as little as they want.

When it comes to autos, they do require a lot more attention as seedlings if starting off in dwc and feeding can become really tricky to dial into with dwc...they need a little something to grow off of but too much and you got dead babies. So it is safe to assume that yes, soil is more forgiving than dwc when it comes to fixing an over feed...

just my :2cents: for the record. :toke:
