Hi all,
Getting ready to crack my first AF beans in the next day or so, and the question I have is this;
Should I put them into a soil block and wait for them to show some root before moving them outside into fabric pots, or just put the germinated seeds straight into the outside pots?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

In Peace,

While that has been the primary thought about Autos, Mephisto starts theirs in small pots and then transplant before flowering begins. They have no problem with their plants doing this. I did transplant one of mine and it slowed it down a week but still produced as good or better than it's siblings. In my opinion, if you are starting it in a cube and you are just placing the cube inside the larger pot, there would be no problems at all with that. I often start in starting pots, then move that over to the final pot.

Some beleive it'll stunt them to transplant, some beleive it actually helps autos with stretching. Personally I just drop them in their pots with a clear Dixie cup over them for a day or two after I germ them.

There's another danger when you plant using soil blocks: if you're not paying close attention and allow the seedling to get too leggy, this can create problems when you do transplant. I would say if you have the time to keep track of the germination than do soil block, but otherwise just go straight to the final pot, place some saran wrap over it to keep humid and make sure the soil is warm.

I germinate in rapid rooters and go straight to final pot. 100% germination and that my friends, saves me money and time! Either way, dont be afraid to try it a few different ways, record you findings and stick with the way you like and works for your situation.:thumbsup:
