Hi all,

So I have been spraying my chemdogging autowith CS for a while now. and she's looking pretty he now. :D

my question is this. how do you guys like to collect the pollen? are there a few ways to do it?

Here are some photos so you can tell me if i'm at that stage or not.

Thanks for the help!

ok, so the internet tells me to cut the talks and have them sit in a glass of water. i did that(on a male plant that i grew just for fun) and most of the pods fell off. I kind of expected them to open up.

what's the next step?

i'm sure some of you guys are already doing this type of stuff no?

The pic u showed isn't ready for pollen harvesting u want to pull off balls that just popped they will look like a tiny flower that's upside down and turns from a ball to a star shape so I want to pick it off when the bottom of the ball starts to split 6 or 8 fingers is wat I call them then I put the balls I've collected and put them on a piece of paper that I told so nothing comes out or in wait a day or 2 use 2 pins one to hold it one to poke the ball then collect pollen and use a small paint brush like for models I've even used paper clips to apply to specific buds.

thank you so much for your reply! :) i will keep waiting.

ideally I want to collect and store this pollen for the next round of autos i run with. :) I read that mixing it with flour is a good way to store (in the fridge) and to later apply it.

Outdoors is not the place for this, pollen travels a looong way on a light breeze.
This might help.
Calm spot on kitchen table or the like out of any airflow. I poke a hole in parchment paper for the stem, place in a glass and I cover with a clear dome. A few days and there is plenty of pollen on the paper. Mix with flower makes it more manageable. A little pollen goes a long way... and has the potential to piss off the neighborhood if anyone else is growing, so take care.

i love that. poking a hole so there is a big paper barrier below. it sounds like a great way to collect the pollen. we have a spare room i can use. ty! I hope the in sprayed part of the plant finishes before the pollen sacs open. I'd bring it inside then after cutting and hanging the bud half. :) according to the mephisto guide it will be done between the 25th and 30th.

I hear on reddit that people generally go way longer than the times stated in the mephisto seed catalogue.

Inside I can match their times, if we count from first true leaves and not seed dunk.
Outside I'm always a couple weeks slower.

that's how i like to start counting too. usually the day of sprout. but i see you are one step more specific. first true leaves, good to know. :)

so for photoperiod i hear you start the one you intend to reverse 7 days after you have started your females.

but with autos I heard you start the one that you intend to reverse about 3 weeks in advance so it's ready to drop pollen at the same time as the females will be ready to accept it? does that sound about right to you?

Kinda depends on how many seeds you're looking for. With the autos or photos I want usable pollen when the buds are just barely puffballs, about the time stretch stops. I bud like that is a bunch of seeds, I had roughly 30 to 50 off a gold glue reverse to a sour stomper.
Hit the one branch or nug (with the rest of the plant covered) let sit about an hr and then spray down that branch with water to null any residual pollen before uncovering the rest.

Pollen can be kept, so the issue of having the male go off a little early can be helpful in selective pollination.

If you do it right, you can store the pollen like you would seeds, for future crosses.

Oh yeah! that's exactly what I want to do!

Thanks for the suggestion on how to seed only once branch and not have seed city going on everywhere else. :D On this note I think i need another tent. one to just make pollen donors out of so I can start collecting! :D
