At what week typically can you expect your plants to start giving off enough odor that it has to be controlled for us closet growers? I'm sure it varies with strains.

4/5 ? big variations in smells.you will want a fan and filter up and working before it starts to smell though.plan ahead others will smell it before you will.
goodluck and keep an eye out for penguins.:pighug:

Have a solution for odor control in place before you need it! Plus order control should be an integral part of your ventilation system. Also do yourself a HUGE favor and spend the extra money up front and purchase a quality carbon filter from the start. Cheap eBay/Amazon carbon filters will only cost you more money in the end. CAN and Phresh are both brands to trust. I say this from experience.

Depending on your strain your girls can start smelling long before they enter flowering.

For real do not mess around get your filter. Others will smell way before you do. I learned this ALMOST the hard way. I vent out to my back yard there are no neighbors back there so I thought it would be good. Well on certain days you could get a faint wiff from the front door. Thankfully I decided to get a phresh filter got it by amazon 2 days later and hooked it up. The very next day a cop came knocking on my door looking for one of my sons friends. If I would have waited I would have been screwed.....You just never know who will show up.

This is all great information, thank you everyone so far for participating, i will have to keep reading more on odor control, although i have an inline charcoal filter, i might add a bag or two of filter just for the extra smell

...Y'all got it! ...Scott, oh yes, it's very strain, even pheno' dependent,... of course, during veg' it's nothing like bloom, especially later stage, but several/and or large plants can throw some impressive stank... I had a multi-pot of Frost Dragons a couple years ago, little ones from a Winter grow, but by week 3 they smelt like roasted skunk ass clear down stairs-  Contrarily I had a 32oz coco-cup of Fantasmo Express that was so mild, it could have sat on your desk and hardly be noticed,...stayed mild in-jar, unless you squeezed, the the terp's would bust out very nicely indeed! So, ask around, and find out what others have found to be low-stank plants,.. lots of fine ones out there! :smoking:
