i just got a ph tester,

my tap water is ph7.7

is this ok?

i havnt took a reading with nutrients or run off yet becuase im unsure of how to mix nutrients.

im on day 28 and have so far fed them root stim for the first 2 weeks, then 2 feeds of biobiz grow at full stregnth. i was planning to go down to 1/2 stregnth biogrow and 1/2 stregnth magne cal , followed by 1/2 strreghth biggrow 1/2 magne cal 1/2 stregnth biobloom, 1/2 stregnth topmax. (all mixed in one solution). do u recon that is too much ? i have read in some threads something about ppm in solution and its not good to go too high? am i better off dropping one of them rather than mixing 4 together? or mixing 1/4 stregnth of each? ...

i will be able to post some nutrient ph values and run off once i know how to mix the feeds without messing things up, so any advice on how to mix would be apricciated.

thanks everyone
great site, great people.

o, and im in biobiz all mix soil.

It would be ideal if you would also be able to measure the EC or ppm of your water. pH 7.7 is pretty usual for tap water.

In soil I think you should have water that has pH of 6.2 to 6.8. I am DWC guy so I dont know too good. All the soil grower pros can correct and you better follow their advice if it differs from mine, lol

cool, thanks.

is this ppm meter good enough? i could order this now and it will be here by next tuesday but it doesnt give any detail on sensitivity etc and im not even sure how sensitive it needs to be :S

If your in soil don't worry about ppm,Dd you get some calibrating solution with your ph meter?Your ph should be around 6.3 to 6.7 and always check your ph after you mix your nutes.Keep using 1/2 strength nutes and you should be fine.

, it did have calibration stuff with it, but it said its precalibrated does not need using for a while. should i do it anyway? see if the reading changes?

so i can just go ahead and mix them all together at 1/2 recomended? given your a moderator i will trust what u say and will mix a batch up now and take another ph reading with the nutrients in.

if it is high... should i hold of watering until tomorrow and get some ph up and ph down from the shop.

i will take a ph reading after watering, they can wait until tomorrow, and i figure i should get the ph exactley right going in and then take a run off reading and amend from there next time?

is this correct? thanks for your help. iv got much better results so far this time with help from here and another forum i shall not mention. lol.

I would check your meter with cal solution just to make sure.I would get your ph up and down and adjust if needed before you water. If your runoff is high just add a little more ph down until you get it right.

Namvet knows what he is talking about. Way I do my water is that I take cold water from tap and let it stay for 12 hours, then mix nutes and set pH and then let it sit for another 12 hours and check pH again and correct if needed and then apply.

pH adjusters are must have if your pH is going to be off. You dont want to add wacky water for your babies in any case but correct the pH first.

thanks a lot guys,
i will go back to the shop tomorrow and get the ph up and down so iv got it in at all times. iv never bothered with ph before or many expensive nutes, and have never had great results from photoperiod or autos but had enough smoke as i had 750w to play with. now im down to 190w i really need to up my game so thanks a lot for the advice in helping me do this , this grow feels much better than all the others with your helps . thanks again.

thanks med grower, i will leave the water to stand as advised.
iv also been reading about hydrogen peroxide to oxygenate , but up until now i was organic biobiz, so im not sure if i should try it. that being said, the magna cal i just got is not organic so i guess im not organic any more anyway

I would be hesitant to use hydrogen peroxide with soil at all even if I let it stand for hours before applying. I understand soil still has plenty of organic activity in it.

Other quick way to oxygenete your water is to get whatever cheap airpump with airstone and bubble it for couple hours.
