I've recently been told by a breeder that instead of the hassle of making STS, they simply mix silver nitrate into CS. Essentially all you are doing is getting silver into the plant to inhibit ethylene production, so it doesn't matter how you get it in there. The CS just acts as the "transport" to get the extra silver in provided by the SN. It is meant to be as effective as STS but less harsh on burning the plant.
The mix I was advised is 20mg of SN in 30ml of 50ppm CS. Spray once per day, 3 days in a row at the start of week 3.
