Im gunna run an aquavalve in a tray so i was wondering can i plant into a 1" deep container thats 6" wide and 20 inches long? The water level will be JUST below the container level.

Of course you can the question is will the plant make it to harvest? There is only 1/2 gallon of space max. I grew an 80 oz plant hydro in a solo cup. This is 4 x bigger?

I'm experimenting with shallow hydro containers right now.
The shallowest I've tried so far is 2.25 inches, or about 1.5 gallons per plant in 2-plant roughly 1 ft x 2 ft reservoirs.
Compared with my previous use of larger reservoirs (about 7.5 gallons per plant) the plants are smaller, just as healthy, and easier to handle.

You can also raise the liquid level if more root space seems needed.

Thanks for that. I failed to put in that i would be lining the container with coco. The tray i mentioned would sitting in and sharing a larger tray (15" x 22") that being fed by the aquavalve.
So it would be semicontained.
