Got some used gear. I have a Saturn that is in early flowering
and two seedlings. The seedlings about 3 feet from the bulb and they
are fine. Temps are 86-90F. Most of the time 88F.

I have the Saturn in a self-watering pot. I fill it in the morning
and 3 hours later it's pretty much gone. I might be able to get
away watering a second time. But I watered 3 times, and after a couple
days the leaves started to droop from too much water.

Think I will eventually go hydro. In the meantime, if you have any ideas
on how to cram as much water and nutes in as possible, I'd love to hear them.

Oh, the potting soil is about 10% perlite, 5% lobster compost and the rest
is Dr Earth potting soil. Basically it's not hot, but could use more perlite.

I have a Go Box, and I am using some of the General Organics nutes, but not
quite as many or as much as they suggest on the box. One problem I have there
is I use a little watering can. It holds more than the self-watering reservoir can take. So I add 1/8 to 1/4 tsp of a PH, flowering nutes, and a mild bloom booster.
I suppose I ought to find out exactly how much the reservoir takes to get an
accurate handle of how much nutes are going in.

Can you top a Saturn?

After I got a 600 watt light, the Saturn has been going up fast.
It's a couple inches from the glass of the hood.

The hood is too big for the tent, it's about 21" by 21" in a 2x4 tent.
That also means that until the plant hits the glass, it should be OK.

So I'd like to top it to keep that from happening. I've heard some
plants don't like it that, do you think it would be OK with this?

Instead of topping it; could you LST (Low Stress Train) it down? I've got some big monsters in my tent as well; using LST I've got them all bent over at pretty much 90 degree angles (wouldn't suggest doing that all in one go though; slow and gradual is the trick here.) I would definitely take steps to train it down though; a few inches might not seem like much now until you check it tomorrow and you found out you light/heat burned the crap out of your tops. LST requires little to no recovery time versus topping; would definitely recommend that before anything else. You can turn even the most raging vertical plant into a horizontal bush with a little time and patience.

Also, could you throw up a picture? Would be nice to see what you're dealing with :karma Cloud:

* Additional question

Are this an HID light? HPS/MH? LED?

I agree with SOH, get some string and start tying her down.. Did she end up with long satellite branches? those will turn into heads ....

Hey late what do say we make this your home thread and ask all your question in here, that will make it easy for you and every one else to fallow. Instead of multiple threads about the same grow....We can change the title to what ever you want. something catchy like?

Late's vacation on Saturn

or

Saturn comes late

600 watt HPS in a 2x4 tent.. I got a couple pics up, more later.

It's a self-watering pot with potting soil to which I added about 10% perlite
and some lobster compost. But I also have a Go Box and I am using that as well.

It doesn't show well, but I got a ball of twine and tried again.
This time I tied 4 or 5 branches, there is a big hole in the middle now.
Hope that was the idea. The main cola is way off to the side and won't get getting
as much light.

she's gonna be a fatty!!!!
