Indoor Royal AK Automatic (First time home grower)

Goodevening everyone, a new home grower has emerged and I'm dying to get pretty good at this^^

First off the growth I'm doing now is as good as zero-budget to see how far I can let 1 seed grow and what I can manage to get from it and evolve from there on (ofcourse hopefully with some tips or ideas from you fine people along the way^^)

So let's get started. As the title says I'm going for some autoflowering Royal AK Automatic

effect: happy and active
genetic background: northern AK47 x autoflowering strains
canabinoid: medium-high
flowering time: autoflowering
yield p/plant(dry) 100-120grams
harvest month: 9-10 weeks after sprouting

I only plan on going 1 seed at a time so I can take my time into working towards the finesse, so that hopefully my 2nd and 3rd seed will end up better than my 1st one instead of "screwing" all 3 up at once

So I started off by putting 1 seed plain into the soil on july 27th, and prayed to god it would come out lol. and surprisingly the 31st it showed it's little head (yay!) =D

After looking up on things about lighting and such I decided to go for 2x 11Watts ctf lights which should give for about 55Watts each if the package is not lying to me.

Currently my setup is like this since I'm still working on a breeding shack to put my baby in tomorrow or so

The ventilator is turned on a few times a day for about an hour so the branch of the plant can get thicker (was a suggestion of a friend so not sure if this is really needed for growing indoors)

I added some soil yesterday as well because she was stretching quite alot so after looking up I read that I could add soil till close to the first 2 leaves because there is still a posibility for root growth on that part.

but for some reason I think she's growing pretty slow =/ because I see some pics of other people where after a week the plant is like double the size. Or is this my thoughts playing tricks on me?

I'm gonna see to post updates on my "experiment" also, so let's see to give this one a good ending, with a good tasty bud =D

One thing you should do is make sure your entire pot is watered.The tap root grows fast and it seeks water so it should be watered fully all the way down to the bottom.Also you should have higher wattage cfl's,those 11 watt bulbs are way to small.Get the biggest bulbs you can find at least 100 watt equivelent or 200 watt equivelent, you won;t be sorry,:smokebuds:

Yo Toker !! Good luck , Welcome and hope you have great fun with your projects i do agree with the above post on both counts ! more so with the definate cfl upgrade like he said " you wont be sorry " <-- That is soo true

I'm only on my second grow, i made a growbox that's 2x2 ft and 3 ft high so gimme a shout if you wanna discuss making one, i might have a few handy tips for ya

Definitely get more powerful CFL's when you can, otherwise the plant won't reach it's full potential. Do this as soon as possible really.

The advice you were given on the ventilator is right, most people have an oscillating fan in their growspace so that the stalks wave around a bit and this does strengthen them as you were advised.

The advice on topping up the soil was right, too, more roots will grow from the under-soil section after a while and more roots equals more smokes

Speaking of soil, what kind are you using ? I used cheap supermarket crap on my first grow and it's very disappointing.

Here is another plant from same seed batch (left side plant) in cheap crappy soil, but with perlite and vermiculite added, also day 20 :

My next step is not to use cheap compost at all ! But i am amazed at the difference just adding perlite and vermiculite makes to the cheap compost. They are cheap things, too, so good for us on a budget.

Hmm Toker for 10 days it does seem a little small, probably nothing to worry about though. My 60 day's were the size of nibblebit's afgan kush ryder at day 12 and that was with compost, perlite and root hormone. check your PH to be sure.

good idea about growing one at a time, first time I screwed up 15! I've cut back to 3 for this attempt lol

Oh just realised! The reason mine was so big was probably due to the light, 250w giant cfl. I'd really recommend getting one!

sure extra tips are always handy^^ I'm currently working on a box that's I think about the same hight and about 25 inches large, I was thinking to isolate it with some cotton wool and a layer of aluminum foil over it so it's a little warmer and reflects the light nicely instead of the cold box inside, still figuring out how I'll go for the ventilation though

small update today: stronger lights really did help !! °_° I put up 2x 18 watts cfl lights (the strongest I could find so far) + 1x 11watts on a smaller lamp today, and by george she started to show her first leaf fingers already tonight AND already started growing 2 new leaves on the top as well =D still really small but noticable they are there^^

so tomorrow my quest for stronger lights continue, I hope to find some 40watts cfl's but I'm not sure if those would work on a 75watts lamp? so if someone could tell me thx in advance !^^

I've been looking around too for some fertilizers with the vitamins she might need, and found a big plant store near me, so any thoughts on which ones that are decent is always welcome^^

I'll see to post some pics of the little one her small progress tomorrow as I have to go now for a bday party^^

If you aren't going to get a 250 watt CFL then the best price/performance CFL's are 55 and 65 watts.

As far as fertilisers, or nutrients as we tend to call them, Plant Magic are good, BioBizz are good, there are many on the market these are two popular ones for soil growers.

In my opinion Plant Magic is superior.

You had a plant at 60 days that was only the size of my AKR at day 12 ! ?
