I have a plant with a shit ton of bud sites on her.

So my question is:
Has anyone here found it beneficial to remove satellite nodes from main branches?

Kyle kushman recommends keeping three nodes I’m sure.

Just been thinking of removing some side nodes to try and put more energy into the main branches to develop denser buds.

Has anyone found it beneficial or nah?

I have seen some plants where the satellite buds will be huge even if there not getting light. On other plants, I have had buds not worth it. It almost depends on what plant and what pheno. I have a Bruce Banner 3 that probably could have benefitted from sights being removed. I have a Pina Colada that has tons of sights and most of the lower sights are huge and solid. I am talking lower sights as big as my fist. I always am facing the same question and usually just leave them all for the most part.

I would be very satisfied with that plant.
Thanks bro. Yeah I think I’ll keep three satellites for each main branch. Anything more than that (smaller ones), I’ll remove. I don’t think there is anymore than 4 nodes per branch anyway

Looks nice. I think we were chatting awhile back in my thread and some of us came to, sorta, a conclusion that at a certain point, a plant is gonna give what it’s gonna give. You can make a choice to have it spread out over a hundred smaller buds (like my orange sherbet). Or concentrated into fewer larger buds (like my nuggets and sage). That’s a simplified statement, and obviously you’ve got to get it to a certain point - which you clearly know how to do.

I prefer to concentrate it into less and bigger buds myself. I like to see those huge fruits flopping around. And I hate trimming. So I prefer to abstain from much training until I start to see a stretch happening. I do top. And then minor lollipopping around the bottom third of the plant. Seems to concentrate more into those floppy fruits.

YMMV and all that. Different strains and all of the other disclaimers.

Yes brother it’s good to see you back. I subscribed to you a while back on YouTube and noticed you have another grow on the go. What concerns me is.. with this run I had buds stacked together with jammy dodgers and I couldn’t spread it out further because the internoding was so tight and stiff. What happened is that most of the bigger outside buds were maturing and the inner buds were literally white and lime green from lack of light. Moral of the story is, with a lot of bud sites on my current plant, I am slightly worried that there won’t be enough space for the light to penetrate completely through with that amount of bud sites as they grow into bigger buds. Good to see you back growing buddy :smoking:

I would keep most of the nodes but strip all of the fan leaves off the plant. The smaller nodes will get plenty of light after that.
Schwazzing for high yield.
I’ve done that with a late transplanted strawberry nuggets. She obviously had to adapt to changes very quickly so I’m at fault for that for sure. I had severe overcrowding in my setup because I had expected a plant to finish sooner than she did. She’s still not completely finished and she’s been in like 80 days of flower. I’ve been feeding her just water for now though because most of the bigger buds are finished. I just haven’t chopped the rest yet because there is some smaller buds that never got as much light finishing up. Anyways, I leaf stripped and lst’d strawberry nuggets often to make sure I never made the same mistake as I did with jammy Dodgers (branches essentially closed In on themselves and buds never got enough light underneath). Her buds are still fairly fluffy and she’s going into week four of flower. So I’m just hoping all that leaf stripping and so on (to prevent the branches closing in on themselves again) hasn’t affected her flowers too much. This happened to jammy dodgers and purple nuggets. Very tight and stubborn internodes with stiff branches
