Hey guys so my babies are doing great, nice fat buds, but I'm not sure if they're ready to harvest. I've been told two different things so far. First is to go by the colour of the tricones (from an experienced grower who has not grown autos before) and second to wait for the leaves to start turning yellow.... I am currently at a stand still atm, and unsure whether to start flushing yet The tricones are still looking pretty clear but I don't have a magnifying glass to really check. Here's a few pictures, any advice?

Hi Sunshine :)
First off let me welcome you to the forums.
Let me invite you over tho the intro section of the forum, where we can give you an AFN welcome and where you can meet our awesome members.
Here is a link for you, click it and you'll go straight there - Introductions
A magnifier is dirt cheap and something like a 420 scope is not that much, I would recommend getting one, you'll get years of use out of it.
Most of the hairs are brown and not many new hairs (pistils) coming shows harvest time is near.
80 % brown pistils is often when plants will be harvested but you may find the higher buds, have more brown pistils and the lower ones still have more white hairs.
Clear resin glands will give a more up high and the more they go milk to amber the heavier the stone.
Everyone has their preferences when to harvest and the type of high they want but I like my resin to be mostly cloudy.

Sounds good. I've started a bit of a flush, just water, so I'm assuming I should keep with the flush for another week or two?

Thanks, they're doing great for my first grow, a little airy, but I'm gunna experiment with mini grows, or shot glass grows, twice the yield and less then half the space apparently, and this time I'll be going as organic as possible. I give it another week of flushing before I can harvest these guys (blue mammoth - Barney's)

Yup, seems the leaves are still pretty green? The flush seems like good time to start, but perhaps wait until many fan leaves are yellowing and the bud sugar leaves are just starting to yellow. You'll likely see those buds fatten up even more!

Beautiful gals, Sunshine!
I agree with MrMojo, the leaves will tell you a lot about when the plant is shutting down, but the trichs will tell you everything. :shooty:
A good magnifier is a must.
This is from Blue (:d5:), and good stuff it is!
When To Harvest Cannabis (Trichs)

Trichome watching is for effect most commonly, for personal preference..but some autos wont amber up........that's where getting to know a strain comes in handy.......
