greetings, 1st timer having a go at it with 6 diesel ryders under a 250HPS. Been reading through FD's starting threads and other stickys trying to learn as quick as possible so these little babies turn out nice. I;ll probably have all the noob questions you see all the time, if anyone needs advice on nutrition for the human body, I'm here for questions.

Welcome to AFN. FDs posts are a good place to start. Nice to see you taking initiative and reading some of the great posts here.

I've grown DRs several times. A great plant but be prepared for the smell. They stink, bad. If you're indoors, hope you've got a good carbon filter. You'll need it!

One of my friends grows the Diesel Ryders and he runs one carbon filter into a second carbon filter. I don't grow them cause they are just too smelly both indoor and outdoor.

Smelly sounds good, I'll have to rig something, they are in a closet with the door taken off, plastic sheeting over the doorway with velcro. Would the carbon filter be a passive or active system? I'm getting 2 small clip fans this weekend for circulation.

Got FF nutes, calmag and pucks on the way.

I just kind of jumped into this before doing my studying.

I see you guys talking about amino acids (kelp) and carbs (molasses) thats the kimd of stuff I work with in sports nutrition.

To really be effective you need a filter hooked up to an exhaust fan. You want to pull the air from the closet, through the filter, then out. The most common setup for small grows is a 4" carbon filter connected to a 4" in line exhaust fan with a piece of flexible duct. Believe me when I say these plants stink. I didn't have a filter when I grew them the last time but was venting directly outdoors through the roof. You couldn't get within 50' of my house without smelling them. When I would take them into the bathroom to work on them that whole end of the house would stink for hours afterward. Anyone who comes into your place is gonna know.

BTW, why did you take the door off?

I tried to roll a joint of DR in a bar and the bartender kicked me out cause it stunk so bad. I thought it only smelled about 1/3 as bad as it did growing. It reminds me of the old days when people would grow 10 skunks and people driving by would no you were growing pot from 100 feet away if they couldn't see a dead skunk on the road.

My grow room is right under my music room and you could smell it in the music room even using a carbon filter. I won't grow it anymore cause of the stink. Muddy is not kidding. I hope you are a ways away from any neighbour.

I won't grow more than 1 or 2 at a time again. Just enough for my own stash. I do love the taste and stone. It's a favorite.

Thr door was off when I moved in here and it's in my bedroom about 3feet from my bed. I'm in a back upstairs apartment. I made the closet air tight except for the flap on the door, the bottom is pulled back alittle to keep the heat from building up. Neighbors are king of close buit not right ontop of me, the window next to the closet goes out to the backyard second floor, with no houses too close.

Next grow i'll pick the seeds upon your recomendation, these seeds were given to me.

Thanks for the help.

Was just wondering as it's certainly easier to make a closet air and light safe with a door, rather than plastic sheeting. Given that you're in an apartment and have neighbors, I'd certainly invest in a carbon filter. Without one the whole building is going to know what you're doing.

Definitly putting one in. Thanks for the warnings, although i can't wait till I smell it, At about what week do they start getting stinky?
