Hey guys, going to be starting my first grow soon (just waiting on teh beans), and I have some concerns that I'd like to clear up before getting started (my budget is pretty much maxed and it's make or break at this point)

So I'm growing x4 Dedoverde Haze by Dr. Greenthumb, Arty recently informed me that Dr. Greenthumb suggests adding 30% coco to the soil for better oxygenation. I planned to use Roots Organic Soil 75/25 Perlite in 3 gallon smart pots. Wouldn't the smart pots + perlite provide plenty of oxygenation? or would it still be a good idea to add the coco? Just coco and no perlite?

Roots Organic Original Soil Contains - Coco Fiber, coarse peat moss, perlite, pumice, composted virgin forest material, worm castings, bat guano, kelp meal, fish bone meal, soy bean meal, greensand and alfala meal. Can't find anything regarding exact values / ratios.

I've also read that this roots soil will need dolomite lime added to raise the PH to an acceptable range, hoping that someone who has experience with this soil can provide more insight? I plan to prepare and start pre soaking my soil today, so I can use my PH probe to get some readings if needed.

I had also planned to use Tang's Feeding Schedule, but from what I understand the soil that he uses (plagron light mix), isn't anywhere near as "hot" as Roots Organic, so I'm guessing that if I follow his schedule I'll burn the hell out of my ladies? Will it be safe to follow this schedule and just take 1-2 ml (per 5L of water) off of each stage early on to see how my plants react, or should I try to figure out a different schedule entirely.

I'm also not sure if the order in which I mix my nutrients really matters, I've seen a lot of mixed opinions about this. I've seen some people say to mix base nutes first (whichever of the base nutes contains phosphorus being mixed first), then additives, then PH the solution, and I've seen a lot of other people say that it doesn't really matter. Pretty confused at this point u.u

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

p.s. I've been doing some more reading, and I see a few people have used roots organic (with autoflowers) straight out of the bag with great success. So I think I'm just going to give it a shot, but I'm still concerned about the feeding schedule. Also wondering if I should maybe mix it with a lighter soil at 50/50 ratio.

I'm no pro but in my experience I would def add perlite. I used the roots 707 mixed with pro mix 50/50 and imo it didn't drain well at all. Well in plastic it didn't but in the fabric it seemed a little better. Hope that helped even a little

Thanks for the input. I'm probably just going to stick with straight roots organic and add about 25% perlite. There are a lot of mixed opinions, but I see quite a few people using straight roots organic with no lime added and not having any issues. I'll prob just delay my first feed until day 12-14 and keep it light.
