Hey Eurogrowers!

I was just wondering this lovely Sunday morning...:smoking:

What is the marijuana scene like over there? I know it probably varries country to country, and even in different parts, but just in general?

For example:

In America, it seems like almost everyone I've talked to (from 20's to retired 70+) has smoked at some point in their life, or don't care much one way or another. Now, you have 10-20% that just hate it, because its from the devil, but overall its not a big deal.

If I'm walking around and smell weed burning, you look and depending on your age and ability to score some bud yourself, you experience different levels of interest. But no one is going to be calling the cops unless its the elementary playground at the school.

I've been to Europe a handful of times, I even brought back a bunch of hash when I visited on a high school trip in Spain. (Germany right after 9/11 was no joke in the airports, thought I was gonna get busted) I never got a great read on the culture there, every time I have visited was with parents or school. I also haven't been back in damn near 18 years. I am sure its changed as the US culture has changed dramatically at that point.

Has American legalization had any effect?

Anyways. Enjoy your Sundays, I'm just a curious bird and looking to get a little convo started on a lazy day. I haven't seen much "culture" discussed on this site as it is mainly about the growing only. I DO NOT WANT TO START A POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS DISCUSSION. If its relevant to laws sure mention it, but I really would prefer to focus on the other aspects.

:toke:

Hey mate !

I live in france and the marijuana scene is pure hypocrisy. France is the number 1 weed smokers country in Europe but they still don't want to legalize. Our politics, in the 80s, made some hidden deals with drug dealers. In france, drugs mainly comes from the projects (suburb). They buyed street peace by allowing dealers to do their things, but in exchange they had to keep streets "safe". Meaning, no violence (not too much extreme violence) and we let you do your thing.

In the meantime, politics organize all those go fasts from marocco / spain / holland.

So you got those projects where cops don't even go anymore, packed with buyers from all horizons waiting in line to score some hash / weed / coke / hero / exctasy... The seller had his face hidden. Kids were watching for some cops and alert if something strange happened. The smoke was number one.

When I wasn't a grower, I had to go their to buy something to smoke. I've seen crazy shit there...

Now, I can say that US laws regarding weed hasn't changed a thing. I think health deputy made some research, but mainly for a pharmaceutical aspect (pills, oils...).

Since 3 years (maybe more), some folks opened CBD shops (less than 0.2% of THC). But politics have closed all those shops. You can still find some shitty CBD online. (and some better from switzerland).

Weed smoking is still taboo here, even if we are the champions in europe... They could make billions but if they legalize, I think those projects guys will enhance their skils (arm robberies, home / car jacking...)

I wasn't catched but I know if you are arrested by the police when you drive a car and they test you for weed, you can't drive anymore plus you got further weed tests in the coming months. If you are arrested in the street smoking some, you can have from nothing to a fine of few hundreds dollars.

One good thing with this present times, apparently there are more growers since March of this year :)

I wish you a great sunday my friend !

Thanks for taking the time to reply! That sounds like a tough place to smoke weed! But I am glad you and your countrymen are doing it anyways.

Hopefully some of the laws change in the next few years for you all.

edit: As far as the police leaving neighborhoods alone, we have some of that here in the cities, but it doesn't draw everyone in like it sounds like in France. You do get some better off folks from the rural areas/suburbs sometimes looking for hard drugs, but not for things like bud. And honestly, the other drugs are around as well if you know the right people.

I'm in London, UK. The uk are the biggest exporters of medical cannabis in the world. But it's still illegal.
Medical is just about legal, but nobody really knows how it works. When Teresa May was prime minister, her minister for drugs couldn't discuss cannabis in parliament, because her husband exported medical cannabis! The medical cannabis he was supplying, was grown by a company that Teresa mays husband was a director of! Couldn't make that shit up, could you?

Most police forces don't actively seek out weed smokers and most places in London smell of weed. It's largely accepted, with the usual kill joys that will moan about most things. (Normally people whining that their neighbours smoke gives them a head ache, that kind of thing)

Glasgow, Scotland. Everyone smokes it! Rich and poor. Plenty of people selling it and mostly Albanian, British Indians and Chinese gangs grow it.
They are making fortunes!! Personally, I think the government is missing a trick, TAX, job creation, pardon the pun growth!!
As far as I can tell the police are not actively seeking out hobby growers, but commercial outfits.
Only people I come across that disagree with it are mostly over 60 and still believe the propaganda surrounding weed. Oh yeah, and the police if they smell it, most of them think like us but enforce the current laws not their opinions.

thanks for replying guys!

I’m in a legal state and they’ve busted a few huge illegal Chinese grows. One had an electric bill north of 10k and tried to hand an energy employee wads of cash when they showed up to investigate :eek1::crying:

Free the weed. Let them in on it to help keep the market competitive and prices down for the end user.
It also has many, many other uses besides getting high. The list is awesome.

Great post. Hello from the UK. I've been smoking fairy dust since I was in my teens, now in my 50's. Weed is generally accepted over here but most folk where I am keep it to themselves but I am never surprised if someone discloses. It's not a big deal here to me, but like pretty much every issue in the UK, we are divided.

It's about time it was legalised in the UK. I've been pro legislation my adult life. It could be the next 'gold rush' major growth industry for the UK, much needed post Brexit. The industries and opportunities for cottage style businesses to spring from no where... (well underground really) .... cafes, bars, edibles, building industry, etc ... I am pro both medical and recreational use. The NHS would be saved a fortune. The A and E departments would have less drunk induced accidents, I am sure many drinkers would become cannabis users rather than drink given the choice. Alcohol is more toxic to our society than Cannabis is IMO. I hope I will see it legalised in the UK before I die... knowing my luck I will have to hide my secret hobby my entire life and it will be legalised just before I leave.... but I am hoping not

I’ve seen a few friends almost die from alcoholism (seizures, hospitalizations etc...) and they weren’t even 35. I had issues in the younger days myself.

don’t know anyone who did anything other than puke from weed:smoking:

Thanks for contributing!!
