Thanks all for taking the time to read and over advice, I am getting ready to start my first auto flower coco coir run (70/30 perlite mix) and I have heard contradicting info on whether to start in solos and transplant up or follow typical auto flower procedure and plant right in final container (2 gallon fabric pots). Full disclosure I am still learning how to properly water (part of my reason for choosing coco). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello :smokeout:

You could start straight in coco or use starter-plugs, both ways works just fine.

Thank you, how long do you keep them in solos before final transplant?

I don’t think about it to much and I only go from solo to 1 gallon. Maybe when they need 2nd watering, instead I just transplant into moist soil 1 gallon pot. Sometimes I never water before transplant. At least a week and a half, for something more precise. If I was going into a bigger pot I’d probably wait a little longer.

Either works, but if you go direct to final pot, make sure that it is up to temperature before planting. IMO 25C is minimum for best results, ~30C is, according to Cocoforcannabis, ideal, and that is what I shoot for during germination and early seedling stage.

Good luck with it.

By the way, make sure that your coco is buffered.

I used to transplant everything and honestly never had issues. But over time I just realized that it’s a wasted, and unnecessary, step. I’ve used solo cups, peat pots, peat pellets and rooting plugs.

Now I just soak the seed(s) in a shot glass overnight and pop them in their final pot o’ coco. YMMV/IMHO/ etc. etc..
