Hi all, the plants are in week 7. The girls were fed an 1-8-7 NPK, back strap molasses(to feed the micros) and a trace minerals/beneficial micro tea brewed for 3 days today. I forgot to check the ph level of the solution before feeding the girls(oops). There wasn't alot of runoff to check the ph either. Today, I noticed the bottom two leaves(the first single leafed seedling leaves) turn yellow. It looks like a n deficiency, possibly due to the n being week in the bloom nutrients or a ph issue.

I am using Sunshine #4 I haven't noticed any nutrient or ph flucuations until now. I read(forgot where) that SS#4 is capable of stabilizing the PH for approximately 6 weeks. That makes sense because it's week7 and I am noticing changes.

I am afraid to add more water to read the runoff because I already added a nutrient solutions to the girls. What should I do? Add more water to read runoff or add more N? Also, what should the ph of the nutrient/water solution be and what should the ph of runoff be using Sunshine #4 mix?

At seven weeks there starting to come to the end of there life cycle. Its common for some of the leaves to turn yellow at the end.I wouldn't use nutes the last two weeks of growth, just plain ph water. You should have asked about ph at the start of your grow its a little late, but ph should be about 6 to 7 going in at this stage don;t worry about run off.Are the plants healthy, what size are they?

I agree. At week 7 the plants are finishing up and the leaves will go yellow...What strain are you growing? Are you in soil or hydro? If soil, the best ph range is 5.5 to 6.5 with optimal ph at 6.0 to 6.30
But at week 7, you might want to start flushing her...Are you using normal ferts or organic. If normal nutes, defiantly flush now...If using organics, just water with ph water only until you get run off. Then simply dump the run off out and continue and repeat with the rest of the watering till harvest...

Sunshine #4 is almost identical to the Pro Mix that I use. They are considered semi-hydro, in that they are soil less, but obviously not hydro. The optimum pH for mixes like this is 6.0 - 6.2. One feeding with the pH off isn't going to make much of a difference. It may change the pH of the soil a little one way or the other, but not enough that you need to be concerned.

I agree, the yellowing you are starting to see is probably the end of life cycle starting and nothing to worry about. I would give them one or two more feedings, then just plain pHed water the last two weeks to flush.

namvet,
You are right, I should have asked about what ph was in the beginning of the grow. As a newbie, there were probably "things" that I should have done and should not have done, but it's all good. I still had fun and LEARNED TUNS of information. Will I continue this hobby? HELL YA! Next time I will try a different grow method so that I have more control over PH, such as hydroponically.

It's all good do773d, that's what it's all about. Learning and making you the better grower...:smokebuds:

Ripster, I'll tell you one thing that I will change. I won't stare at my plants for hours next time

Hey im fairly knew at this also and am always learning everyday.I went to a horticulture school back in the early seventies for a year and learned the basics about soil nutes and and plant care. I try and help on the forum and give info if i think i know the answer, but once in awile i have a brain fart and mess the answers up.I welcome corrective response from anybody with an open mind. Good growing to you and all on the afn network.

I've done several grows now and it seems that I'm always screwing something up. To me that's the joy of learning. Its like me and golf; i suck at it, but once in a while, i hit it just right and its so nice :). None of us is perfect, that's why we are here, for support and to learn from other's mistakes as well as our own.

Hopefully, Everyone's grows get better. I know there will always be some issues. If it were always a perfect assembly line process, the fun would be gone. Troubleshooting is great fun.
