Back in May of 2014 I purchased seeds online. My wife was not happy about my desire to grow cannabis. I did sneak a grow of two autos in 2015. I planted the seeds the day Alaska's adult use proposition took effect. The rest of the seeds sat in my refrigerator until the November 9. In celebration of California's Proposition 64 I planted 4 seeds. Two AK49 autos and two Northern Lights autos.
Environment:
2'-4' tent.
Lighting:
1. T5HO 2' 4 bulb totaling 96 watts
1. Mars Hydro 46 Watt reflective LED.
1. 23 watt CFL hanging out for a little extra heat.
16-8.
All are in 5 gallon nursery pots filled with Promix HP.
Nutrients used:
General Hydrophonics (I didn't know they were owned by Miracle Grow until after I bought them)
First 5-6 weeks
BioThrive Grow 5ml per gallon first 5 weeks
CalMag 2 ml per gallon. Even though I have pretty hard water I like the CalMag because it lowers the PH.
After week 6:
BioThrive Bloom 5 ml per gallon after first 5 weeks.
BioThrive Bud Boost 5 ml per gallon after first 5 weeks
CalMag 2 ml per gallon.
The tent's in my garage and even though I live in SoCal it gets cold in the winter. I opted not to put in a little heater but set the light schedule from Midnight to 4 pm. The temperature rarely got over 65 F. As a result, the plants didn't drink as much as I'd expect.
The northern lights are short and squat. One of the seeds didn't pop out until a full week after the others. It's now bigger than it's sister. It's buds aren't as fat, however. One of the AK49s is super bushy with lots of flowers. I LSTd the heck out of all the girls.
The Northern Lights should finish in 10-11 weeks from germination. But the AK49s appear to need a few more weeks. I'm wondering if the colder environment slowed down the development. I pruned the bigger one yesterday because it was so leafy and some lower leafs were not getting light. I know, I know, don't prune autos, just leaf tuck. Other than some leafs she's nice and green with lots of flowers. I'm just going to keep her alive as long as I can.
Attached are two photos. One of the victory garden and one is the bigger AK49. She's 9 weeks old yesterday.
