Hey All,

I am growing in a 2 - 8 gallon bucket RDWC with an 8 gallon res. I am starting week 9. I am running into an issue where the PPM and PH are rising. After a few days she appears to drink just water (water levels go down) but PPM rises and PH rises (typically around .1-.6 range). Is this mean the PPM is too high? This has been happening for weeks. Could it be lock out? I did try out adding great white to my res last week but that didn't appear to do anything. I bought some Hydroguard yesterday and thinking about trying that but have read that since it breaks down old plant matter to use as nutes that it will likely increase the PPM.

Does anyone have a good PPM/EC range chart for autoflowers that breaks down per week of the growth cycle?

Example: I did a res change yesterday with new water and nutes. Below are the readings after the change:
PPM x700 scale: 1110
EC: 1.6
PH: 5.8
Water Temp: 67 °F

Readings after 24 hours:
PPM x700 scale: 1260
EC: 1.8
PH: 6.5 (lowered it back down to 5.8)
Water Temp: 67 °F

I can provide more details/nute info if needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it feels like she’s throwing up your EC is to high.

She could be leaching.

Drop your EC by 0.4 then check the ppms after 15 minutes. Then raise EC if she’s starting to suck up your mix again. Raise slowly so it doesn’t happen again. Check EC every 15 minutes or so, it will show directly if she’s okey with your raise.

Also, keep a good eye on her leafs and stems, her overall health. They will tell if she’s happy with the strength.

I agree with Mikael, ppm is too high.
But it's easy to get right.
If ppm falls from day to day, plants are eating more than drinking, so increase ppm.
If it rises, plants are drinking more than eating, so reduce ppm.
When dialed in correctly, ppm should stay the same, or fall a small amount from day to day.
The most my autos have ever wanted is 1000 ppm, and usually closer to 800 (assuming 700 scale).

ppm will affect pH.

I use clorox, 2 drops per gallon per day in plant vessels.
If a reservoir starts smelling funny, I increase the dose, but that's rare.

I will try lowing the PPM and seeing how she does in the next day or two. Guessing just pumping out some of the water and putting in fresh RO water should suffice.

Clorox, like bleach?

Definitely needing to lower PPM. The girls are not looking too happy today. A lot more yellowing.

Not much experience dwc but ph rising is kinda normal if/when using ph down and sounds like plant is taking water over nutes from nutrient solution causing ppm to rise.

like someone said, lower ppm should be the solution and maybe slightly lower ph to make up for it rising or just keep an eye on it.

looks better than my dwc attempts in the past, for me was water temps to high
