Guys,
I prepped and prepped and prepped... but one single mistake is seriously compromising the health of my babies.
Here is the quick resume of whats happening. 2nd grow, 1st time from seed, coco, nutes, p/EC meters, LED. Canna Coco Pro+ and nutes
I cracked the seeds (photoperiod) and they sprouted like champs. I transplanted directly to 10L airpots. I thought formulex was general light feed for younglings, but apparently not. So I underfed until day 10. They stunted growth and started yellowing like this...
(this is when it just started, got significantly worse the next day!!)
So I realize I was starving them, and prepped a feed of Canna A&B, Rhizotonic, a little Cannazyme and a sprickle of Sensi Cal Mag Veg. Now, I also seriously underestimated how much coco holds water and how under LED there is much less evaporation, so all this time (I think) the medium has been too moist. So I prepared the feed at 1.6 (incl. base water EC of 0.5, so true EC 1.1) thinking to feed a strong dose with as much less water as possible without nute burn. Also did pH 5.5 as roots seem to like acidity under stress, and previous run-off was going at 6.0 6.2 (feeding 5.8)
Fed 250ml right on the stem zone on Sunday, and again yesterday. I think the medium is getting dry, but I cannot tell, its much harder to tell than soil/soiless. I compared to left over coco in the bag, but can't really tell as it feels quite moist to start with.
Today there is a significant improvement in the yellowing (in general), but now the first true leaves are looking really bad. Not crispy at all like typical nute burn, in fact the opposite, quite mushy. The tips look burnt in color (brownish), and all the leaves are quite droopy.
So I think that the nutrient feed is back on track, but the plants are gasping for air.
Would you agree? Any input very welcome!
Sensi Purple Haze - has the most yellowing right now - damn it, the photo looks cool on the phone, but now I see it sucks! There is much yellowing starting from the veins going out on the newer leaves
Night Queen 1
Ortega Indica 1
Night Queen 2 - The heroin!! This girl is showing to be really tough! Strongest, healthiest, less yellowing, less droopiness, exactly same feed regime as the others.
But, still droopy
And the Ortega 2. Was ahead of the Purple Haze, but has since stunted the most as the one most behind.
So from now on I'm going for the "proper" feeding regime, Canna says EC 1.1 (excluding base water) so I reckon its best to aim at 0.8.
But my dilemma is, do they look waterlogged, or droopy for lack of water?
