Good evening.

I am new to this forum, thank you for accepting me.

I am thinking of growing my first auto flower but I have a question regarding this.

I usually use the paper towel method until the taproot is about 1-2cm long.

After the paper towel method I would like to plant it into my Autopots (8.5L).

Inaknusijg a coco perlite 50 50 mix.

My questions around this is will I be able to plant the germinated seed into the coco perlite mixture even though it is really porous?

I am also going to use GHE Tri Pack for the mutes, when will I start to use this?

And the last question, how long will I have to feed it manually before I turn the Autopot on.

Strains I am going to use is White Widow and Critical.

Thank you for reading.

A lot of people use starter cubes instead of paper towels.
I like Rapid Rooters, but rockwool is fine.
I've only grown in autopots once (the same size pots as yours), but I just stuck my starter cube with sprout into the grow medium.
Most people hand water for a couple weeks.

You recommend I place the germinated seed into a rockwool and then place that into the coco perlite mix in the Autopot ? Would you recommend I leave the seed in the rockwool for a week or 2 before I move the rockwool into the Autopot, or put the rockwoo, cube witht the germinated seed into the coco perlite in the Autopot as soon as I move it from the Paper towel ?

You can do a variety of things, and exactly what you do doesn't matter much.
I put RapidRooters with sprouts into hydro a day or two after they sprout.
No food for a few days, then slowly increase it.

I grow in autopots and I've started plants directly in my 15ltr pots and also I often start my girls in solo cups before going into there final homes. also regarding when to turn the res on to bottom feed you want plants leaves to be at least touching the sides of the pots

I was thinking of doing this.

Germinate the seeds, then put them in the Autopot

Just go easy you should be fine plus I only go the solo cup route as it takes away the worry of overwatering

I now plant the tap rooted seed in a cup with coco (or in the last grow, Sunshine #4) first, and then transplant to the final pot once the seedling is established. The smaller initial pot helps avoid over watering, and is easier to keep at temperature. I make transplanting easier by cutting off the bottom of the cup I will plant in, cutting off another bottom to slide over the open bottom of the first cup, and splitting the side of the first cup. The bottom needs perimeter holes to allow drainage. This setup allows me to just pull the bottom off, place the entire thing in a shaped hole in the medium of the final pot, and lift the sides of the initial cup off the seedling by spreading the cup sides at the split. Works a treat to keep transplant shock under control. Prior to doing this approach, I found that the coco was often not held together well enough by roots and would fall apart when I transplanted, which I assume did at least some root damage.

As mentioned above, you should top water until fans reach the sides of the pot, and it does not hurt to go a bit longer than that before going to reservoir feed.

Good luck with it. :pighug:
