Hi ,

I have 3 baby's from Grass-o-matic Maxi gom. There are 5 weeks olds and they begin with flowering this week!Normally they would flower in week 3. Because i want to stop giving nutrition 2 weeks before harvest. When do i stop giving nutrution? In 3 weeks ( because they grow 75 days ) or in 5 weeks( because they flower 7 weeks?

I hope someone can help me!

Greetings,

You don't necessarily have to go off when a breeder says the plant is ready, there's many conditions and variables that can change when the plant will be ready. If it didn't start flowering until week 5, I'd assume it will run longer - all plants I've had flower late always run longer. The bud will be ready when it's ready, by examining your leaves, calyxes and trichomes you'll know when you're about "two weeks off".

Thank you for your quick reply!!
Next question : how can is see " that the bud is ready "? i know that when the hairs are 80 % brown you can harvest. But by how many % do i have to stop the nutrition?

Greetings

By far the easiest way is to acquire a jewelers loupe or led microscope, with either of these two tools you can examine the trichomes themselves and have the best idea of when to harvest is. If you're truly unable to acquire either of these items, the next best way is to look at the pistils and calyxes.. when the calyxes are slightly swollen (see image below) and the pistils are just starting to lose their white (the final pistils, i.e: the ones on the newest buds) this is when you'd start your two week flush.

If you do acquire a loupe or microscope, when the trichomes are about 80/20% milky is when you'd start your flush.

If your plant is using the nutrients in it's leaves, as soon as you see 80% of the leaves yellowed and used up is when you'd start your flush.

These of course, are just my experiences and reccomendations. Someone else may have a different way of looking at it..

I also like to watch the leaves to determine when to flush. Even within a given strain the plants may not all mature at the same time. I've got some Mi5 going right now. Two plants are starting to use up the stored energy in the fan leaves while the other is still green. They are all 10 weeks old and are looking like they will take 12 weeks for the 2 and 13+ for the third. I just gave the two their last feeding last night, so will only give plain water for the last 2 weeks.

Thank you. Ii go for the leave method. in the future i want to grow on led so i think i will hear more from you:)

I think if your pots are big and/or you're using hydro, the plants can get bigger and take a bit longer to mature. You mentioned like 2oz+ off each of your plants, Muddy, so these must be some pretty big autos. It's probably worth it to grow a big one, although I'm not sure if a clone would yield more in three months.
