So, I wanted to experiment with smaller pots and I’m currently growing some Glue Gelato seeds from Barney’s Farm in a 3 liter fabric pot. I just received this little gimmicks that bend the plant to allow LST without much of the hassle, and decided to give them a try.

I must say they feel much more comfortable to use for some reasons: first of all you don’t have to deal with having to use a lot of string and other stuff as you just put it the plant where it won’t move or get loose or whatever (You know what I’m talking about). I don’t have to touch the plant that much which is always for me a risk since you can transport spores from fungus without even knowing. They are reusable and the bag (which is 18 dollars) comes with 35 pieces which I guess will last for a while.

On the other hand they feel plastic sometimes. They are 3D printed so you can see the lack of details sometimes (who cares) but sometimes there are little plastic splinters which could harm the plant. They are not 90 degrees always, and they are not suitable for early LST as thin branches wont fit the benders.

Anyhow, if you want some LST solution to try out I guess this is an interesting choice and I wanted to share.

Happy new year everyone! Stay safe and high.

Unless they can do this, I'm going to stick with pipe cleaners (176 count pack, $6.00), If it ain't broke, don't fix it. As you said, they're "gimmicks."
But thanks for sharing, it's good to see what's available. Happy New Year to you as well.

I bought something similar but ended up using pipe cleaners instead

I use plant bends and they work pretty good. I don't use 3D printed ones, I get them off Amazon. $7 for 100 to the house.

Those are looking pretty good. I think I’m liking them, pretty easy to use.

I use rubber bands or the green plant tie which is basically a long bread tie that u can cut to size.

I purchased some bonsai training wire. Works great . They bend easily, you can easily tie together and they are made for plants, cheap too
