OK, I have some seeds coming (mostly auto's) but I will also be getting a few free photo period seeds.

I have grown auto's a few times, but not photo's. What light schedule is best for photo's and can I grow them on the same light schedule from start to finish?

I am going to grow out some auto's first hopefully and then I may try the photo's. Depending on how well the auto's go.

If my auto's do well and I get some buds to last me for awhile I will try an photo grow. If not I will wait until next spring and get the photo's started and then transplant outside.

Hey there! You can use 20/4 or 18/6 (my preferred and what I use) to veg them as long as you need (3-5 weeks is average... Some like to go longer) but you will have to put the lights to 12/12 to get them to flower and finish. So a dedicated space would work for them or veg them with your autos and move them to a closet or somewhere secure from light leakage for 12 hours of darkness during their bloom cycle...

Hope this helps!

The main thing you need to worry about is the 12 12 cycle, when you want them to flower typically they will double in height and they need 12 hours of complete darkness no leaks or cracks or interruptions, This can cause hermis or stunted growth you wouldnt want, so be careful and make sure you will have an area for that!

Dont forget 24/0!! I vegged photos under 24/0 for years, and done very well. All of my outdoor plants are vegged under 24 hours of light for 60 days

Yes this is a easy one but it all comes down to timing pop autos let’s say it’s a 60 day auto so you plan how long a veg for photo and pop you reg seed l veg 24/0 so you can finish them together just u going to have to make two foods a veg and a flower and flip 12/12 after auto ‘s are done I flip to 11/ on 13 off sativa plants like a shorter light cycle some will flip like poop and one less hour of light can turn it around from air to bear

I agree with all above posts. I veg photos with my autos under 18/6, once my autos are about 2 weeks or so from finishing I'll flip my lights to 12/12 and let the photos start to flower. Usually by the time I harvest the autos about 3 weeks from flip the photo plants have already finished stretching and are starting to work on making buds.

While the photos veg they wont need much attention unless you plan to train or do anything technical to them. I have 5 photos in the room with 12 autos, my autos are still a good 4 -6 weeks out so in about 2 weeks I'll take a few clones to preserve my mothers then flip the lights a week later.

Also... and I bet everyone here has done it...

Make a BIG sign to put on the tent/room for when lights are out...

You won't even realize till some buddies are over, a couple bowls have passed, and you wanna show off the ladies... door open.... lights are off.
We're stoners, so prep for it.

well best of luck to you 7 I will be on the lookout for your auto grow. :vibes:

Photos are lovely to grow. You are more involved in the development of the plant imo.

Don’t worry too much about stoner moments when you open the tent by accident at lights off! In my experience that doesn’t cause an issue. I think I opened my photo tent every night with room lights on to take photos. What you really need to watch out for is a constant light leak of any size. This is what will cause hermie issues. And stress.

Good luck. You’ll love it.
