My water went in at 6.8 ph and the runoff was 5.0.Should I adjust in water so it comes out at correct ph, or just leave it?

I always wondered this too. I think u should adjust to make runoff correct. Maybe try flushing. I never check my runoff personally. My water comes in at 6-6.5 and I havent seen any problems. Try adding dolamite lime to your soil mix next time. I heard it keeps ph somewhat stabilize

:howdy:bro have you got a ph soil teaster that what you need as run off not allways right i no lol, then you no were your soil at if more alkaline or Acid, and i allway add now a bit of D-lime to my soil to help stabilize it,as it seem you abit on the Acid said bro,get it sorted be for get more troubles, just up the tap water to about 7,but add some D-lime to soil :peace:

Sounds like your soil pH is very low. I would suggest adding some hydrated (powered) lime to your feeds. About 1 1/2 - 2 teaspoons the first feed, wait 3-4 days as it doesn't show any changes immediately, then check your run off again. Next grow you probably need to add some dolomite lime to your soil mix.

Howdy Muddy:

This is a constant issue. Can you put up a guideline for amount of lime per gallon of water when trying to recondition soil PH. And when it is absolutely necessary to flush. Also, what is the approx. amount of lime to amend per gallon of soil prior to a grow and the procedure most use.
Thanks - Pm-ed you on this.

ok... I think kudo is on the right track... if your putting in 6.8 ph and getting 5.0 out that says your soil is even below 5.0... thats wayyyyyyy acidic... thats like for blueberries level acidity... def run some dolomite lime... make sure its dolomite as that dissolves much quicker.... the oher thing you can do to get your ph back is flush with a high ph water till yuour runoff starts to swing up...

like... say... use 1tsp baking soda in a gallon of water... see where your ph comes out... around 7.8 or 8 should swing your soil back up fairly quickly... then flush 1X the volume of your pot with that... see what ph runoff is... ideally you'd like to see a 6.0 ph runoff before you start running normal phed water and nutrient solution... 6.3-6.5 range again.

hope this helps... any questions feel free to ask

Thanks JM. Have the dolomite lime aerating--the good stuff. Next watering will get it straightened out. And next grow no more Fox Farm soil or nutes. BTY great water info. you have provided in other section.

np mate... hopefully you get sussed.. keep me aprised of the sit... FF nutes are fine... the soil is a bit hot for starting SOME autos in... I dropped it after i had thrips and many other issues and later found they had changed some supplier stuff... ive heard its corrected but in the meantime I discovered Promix BX thanks to Bailer and a few others... its da shit! no nutes and has trich in it too... perrrrrrfect!

:smokebuds:
much cheaper also...

oh yeah... also... just like in carpentry... ph twice... adjust once...
and always "trim " your ph into range... never overshoot and then have to correct the other way... be cautious... dolomite can be slow acting... the good news is it wont go over 7... :toke:

JM - are you sure about that "7." Lucky "7" or "crap out" = 7. Thank you for all your time and effort. You are the go to person for anything "water."
