My hay like harvest from earlier this year
Hey everyone! I just mixed my nutes and the pH is at 6.0 to 6.1

Growing in fox farms coco loco. Is that pH too low for soil, or will it be okay? My buddy mentioned soil acting as a buffer, but I don't know what he is talking about?

Every other feeding has been on point around 6.4 to 6.6

I think you are fine in soil 6-7 but I personally try for a 6.4 usually. A one off watering probably won't do much since you are still in range. Don't you have pH up/down? If not get some. I use it 99% of the time.

I have pH down and use it every time. I guess I got a little heavy handed when I was measuring.

Thanks for the reassurance @karlkutta

Tools of the trade! A must!

In coco I see between 5.8-6.8
I'm in soil so I go between 6.0-6.8

No pH up? I usually have to go up. But you really need both to dial it in. You have a pH pen? I'm using a color chart and tester but a pen is probably better.

Do be careful when you add pH up/down. A few drops of down are more effective that the same amoynt of up drops.

Coco Loco has amendments so careful what you add in the beginning. Fox Farm suggests a ph 6.3-6.8 and to let it dry just a little longer between waterings. It's not like straight coco that requires more watering.

Not sure you should use both up and down. I think the buffers in each would fight each other.

I only use pH down. I think ppl with lower pH water might use pH up or those using RO water, but really only need one or the other, and which one depends on your water.

You are right but if you overshot you can bring it back. That's all.

your feed pH needs to range some, shooting for an exact # (like 6.4) will only feed what is available @that ph. I tend to start lower and end higher, as N is available lower on the chart, and PK and calcium are higher on the chart. A smorgasbord every week, instead of big mac's every night.
